No gamestart notification. Rude.

I’m going to hardcore lurk through the first day or two. I don’t like early game in anything larger than a Micro, and fuuuuck this 40 players noise.

VOTE: No governor

I'm worried that there may be some consequence to this, but We need to get through the pregame, and the notion that this group is going to elect someone with 21 votes is laughable.

Unofficial VC is literally on the previous page. At the very least you can tell who the people you think are most likely to be right in a vacuum are voting and sheep them.
This is actually really good advice.

Okay, looking at said UVC, I immediately don't like the wagoneers on TSE. I don't know what TSE's deal is, but my top "trust in a vacuum" people on it are Cephrir, GE, and Wooper (no offense the others on the list), the latter of whom is the next biggest wagon. Let's look there. Nnnnnope, not convincing. I trust FF, and the fact that she doesn't have a wagon at all on her is encouraging. She tends to be either obvtown or obvscum, and pretty canny when Town. That said, four votes for Wooper!Duck isn't damning. Scrolling the rest of the way down the list, I don't see any consensus forming from the people I trust the most.

Skimming an ISO Bingle for more of these unofficial VCs doesn't help, but it does lead me to my next post for a potential lie detector.

A look at official VCs doesn't help much either. So never mind. Shit advice, stoopid BJingle.

Can you look at your role pm and tell everyone what your alignment is?

Formatted as 'I am X-aligned' or 'I am aligned with X' with nothing else in the post, please.

Try 'worried there are other alignments that are technically town aligned'

Because I was already worried about that. The phrasing in my role pm was a bit weird about alignment.

p-edit:
Just post 'I am death aligned' with nothing else in the post then.
Bolded is interesting food for thought, but until I see evidence I'm discounting it as a possibility.

Feeling much better. Fever spiked to 103.8 F on Monday night, off to the doctor for the third round of antibiotic injection on top of oral antibiotics. The last few days have been...interesting.

I think this is the only active mafia game I’m playing in right now, so it will have my undivided attention as I mend.

moving on. I got scummy vibes from the post Titus made from that alt account. I felt it was unnecessarily hedge-y in a way that scum usually does when they feel like they need to fake content but don't have real reads. that's my reason for voting it and I haven't seen anything that makes me want to move.
Lacking other information, I agree w/r/t Titus. It seems over-explainy. Disagree w/r/t JBingle, he's the only one on that list I don't skip or skim.

I lied. Dayvig is real.

Also, three more things:

1) I am ending my V/LA early. I'm still a bit sore and achey, and I fatigue quickly, but they've given me three 1000mg shots of rocephin since Monday on top of 1500 mg of Keflex/day for ten days, so I feel like I could take on smallpox and win right now
2) I am actually keeping up with the game since I jumped in here! Hooray! Don't bother telling me stuff I should know unless your name is JBingle, Untrod Tripod, or you swear to Odin not to put any damn spin on it
3) I am roleplaying my character. Fun times ahead!

Literally conftown to me yesterday. BBmolla also flavor checked him. It’s possible EP is cult but he ain’t cult leader or groupscum.

EP has also been one of the most protown people this game.
Okay, suspicion tabled. It’s plausible he was culted last night, but unlikely.

I really dislike the heavy use of flavor to determine alignment here. We saw an orc flip Town and others flip scum. Further, role name tells us exactly fuck-all with regard to the cult.

An aasimar aligned with a cult themed around Ascension? That’s not even contradictory.

I don’t disagree with you. I’ve wanted Miss Lynch out from D1. They’re claimed 3P, and I don’t believe the claim that they win with Town. Their play strikes me as really self-serving (which again says independent 3P)

Do we have evidence against MissLynch as CL?

No it hasn't? The pk lie detect wasn't a lie, just a really stupid choice of post to detect. And Rauth literally dies tomorrow. I don't even know what the other "proven false" you think is.

No. If you're a cultist and we let you no target, you just target CL. If Cult has a Redirector, it's in the same pool of players as the CL, which means they're also going to die shortly. If scum has a redirector, fine, whatever, they can at best use it to hunt for cult leader.
Okay, that was convincing. I will consider your list.

I'm mostly waiting for UT and Pine, who have yet to post this dayphase, but we also need a pool for KA to CL hunt in if DEB flips town and a target pool for Rauth/Elements.

Everything else is pretty secondary.

We have a guilty on Pine from KidAmn's JK. It makes sense that scum would give their motivation to their rolecop (pisskop the white-haired woman) and have another one of them fakeclaim it.

Bingle also claimed FBI on Elements the same night that Elements was jailed by KidAmn and attacked by Zoraster (scum).

Frankly, UT is one of the only people I could see NOT recruiting me. He’s OG enough to not need the help and confident enough not to want it. He’s also - and this is important - wily enough to see that as the obvious recruit, I’m also the obvious lynch. He could have a dead cultist or a dead Townie

PE: whoa lot in the last fifteen minutes or so

I’d rather have a dead cult leader. I’ll case UT when I get home

DEB’s play today reads like a sacrifice play to draw attention. Cult can win this through attrition as long as we don’t get the leader.

I’m even more convinced that UT is the leader

Rautherdir - Runelord

UT - Cult Leader (Much of the following is based on assessing those who are trying to divert away from a UT lynch for suspect reasons/alternate targets)
DEB - Likely recruit in earlyish game
EsperessoPatronum - Possibly cult, but could also just be wrong
BB - Probable recruit in late game
Bingle - Probable recent recruit

Son, you are hella not paying attention.
I wasn't, now I am. I said it was from memory. Part of the problem was not having a centralized source for reminders - hence why I was seeking to rectify it. Thank you for helping though.

Why he never culted UT is beyond me. But Deb ruined both large themes that I was in to close the year. Deb you get the brick baguette award. I hope u chip a tooth. Anyway Deb sent me a message that he has info that at least 1 of these three people are scum {Bingle, rce, Xofelf}. A50 is scum too and should be the lynch unless you let Elements kill him (which is whay you should do to make this already long as cluck game end faster, but you all are too stubborn to listen to me}

My money is on Bingle. Idc anymore. When town wins this I will count it as a win because I carried the crap out of this town

Also Bingle is directly responsible for me getting culted because if we had lynched Deb the day he lolclaimed I would t have gotten culted. So really Bingle, cluck you. I will enjoy your death immensely.

Alien was the standard JK in 2013, for one, but also KA blocking you is the other explanation why your rb wouldn't take.

If you're not lying, KA is the only explanation I can see.
It really wasn't. Jailkeeper worked exactly as it does now in my first Large Normal in 2011.

So, with one cult left and that cultist identified, I think it *is* time to consider third parties.

Right now I’m concerned that there’s a third party whose goal is eliminating the cult and will win exclusively once it’s gone. Am I crazy, or should we just be turbolynching Turkey?

You're probably right. We would also know at this point for two reasons: 1) the flavour would likely mention it, and 2) cult recruits get vanillaized.

On the vanillaized point, any of these people being culted wod have made our last night actions unsuccessful:
- KA

It's probably some combination of getting so close to finally winning the game and people threatening to screw it up even though it doesn't even concern them, my habitual desire to yell at inconsistencies, and the fact that this is my last game on site for a while.

I appreciate the tip, BTW, however my incapacity to sign into my account is my own. I changed my password to a google chrome suggested password and then had google chrome forget it. I will do the same with this account when this game is done. If I ever need to log back into these accounts, I'll just use the "forgot my password" links, but I have no intention of doing that. I have every intention of this being the last game I play on site.
I'm sorry you feel this way, as I consider it more likely than not that you're telling the truth. However, we're in nearly-uncharted game design with a practical 40-player game and a functional(!) cult mechanic. Given that there are at least five* different factions and probably as many wincons (Flavor Leaf's Thode alignment but Town coloring is still not adequately explained), I wouldn't be surprised if there are more. All of the known others have an exclusive wincon, so we don't have the luxury of assuming yours is different. Sorry, that's just the way the game is played. Frankly, claiming third party is almost never a good idea because we can't trust an unknown variable to be truthful.

Third party is definitionally not pro-Town, they're pro-self. Your interests merely
coincidentally
parallel our own on a lot of tangents.

This also continues to reek of an appeal to emotion, which I'm frankly not interested in indulging. You will be missed if you depart because you're an interesting player, but I'm not jeopardizing the game over it.
In post 12579, Pink Ball wrote:Who the hell cares how pro town you have been if you're not town. You play to your wincon, not ours. Basically, you invited yourself to our council and now you want us to grant you the rank of master. Not gonna happen.
Bingo, and the reference made me chuckle.

I don't know how you manage to completely miss the point so consistently.

People are arguing I should be lynched because I'm scum.
I'm pointing out how obviously not scum I am.

You're talking about something completely different.
Once again.

I don't know how you manage to so repeatedly place your hand in the oven and not realize it's the source of your burn.
Shut up.
You are

Yeah, what exactly are you looking for here? "Yeah, you got me, it's mutually exclusive with Town"?

This is the problem, ML. We just can't afford to trust you. It isn't that we've been keeping you around to screw with you, it's that you haven't been a priority yet. Honestly sorry if you're telling the truth, it's a shitty thing to go this deep and lose to "Let's just be safe."

With 11 alive, it looks like the only way we definitely don't hit the <10 person threshold with either SK alive is to lynch one today and one tomorrow. A Serial Killer (and his backup) who win if there are fewer than 10 people remaining in a 40-player is plausible and alarmingly close to winning. Turkey isn't a threat, that possible wincon is.

Get out of my head, UT. I took a while to post that (looking up some supporting facts) but that was eerie.

Interesting. These versions of how ML's ability work are in contradiction to one another, and also in contradiction to the supposed "I haven't looked at my role PM lately."

I straight up do not believe that you’ve never clarified your wincon, which tells me that it IS exclusive. If it weren’t, you wouldn’t be vague.

This was great. I’m wildly impressed to see a 40-player game run so smoothly.

Please post role PMs or full setup information so I know what to nominate you for!

There’s a lot of room in a 40P for difficult-to-balance mechanics.

Princess Peach, though...I’m with you there

I liked that the flavor mattered. It added a dimension to the game.

I wouldn't say that. Motivated Jailer was the bedrock of our strategy in the late game.
