Scum?In post 115, DeathNote wrote:Ego
They aren't. I have a very detailed internal model of how I expect town and scum to act in the rvs (one that is somewhat dynamic), along with what amounts to a mental algorithm for players who haven't posted to help me sort them even without posts. (Which is why the null section is too big--I should be able to sort the names in there by and large even without them having posted.) It's something I've partially explained before but I wouldn't know how to fully unpack it and even if I did, once I did, it would make the process obsolete. In post 116, Save The Dragons wrote:mastina's reads look random to me?
I can however explain my reads.
Pooky is self-evidently a TRUE PATRIOT with love of COUNTRY AND GOD above all. He radiates town with every iota of his posting. I realize that I've yet to see a proper Pooky scumgame (I might've seen it once in a hydra? Not sure, would need to check my memory, if I did he was underwhelming but it's possible I haven't seen Pooky-scum before), so I realize that he's apparently pretty damn good at it...but he's doing everything to just be. Town. Through and through. He's just radiating, oozing, town. To borrow his own words, he bleeds red white and blue with his very essence. He's got that energy, that aura, radiating town from him in a way that just, I don't see how that's ever scum.
gorilla is basically trying to mastina mastina, with his readslist style and his town scum quoting of posts, but beyond that, the way he suggested total war, the progression in his stances, what he is doing inthread and overall the total content just seems town.
Prism is already exuding similar energy to my experience with Prism as town. I instantly clicked with Prism's opener as being town and the things Prism are doing just feel town to me in a way that's a bit hard to articulate. Call it gut if you must but I'm just pretty sure that this is Prism as town. Granted, I've not actually seen Prism as scum but thisfeelslike Prism as town.
Cephrir's opener gave me scumpings as an opener more likely to be from scum, but his content since then has been very much the Cephrir as town that I got to see in Team Mafia. I realize he's a skilled enough scum player to look highly town as scum and to imitate his town meta, but what he's doing doesn't look like scum imitating their town meta, it looks like town being in their town meta.
samantha is by far the weakest of these townreads, mostly from samantha's opener.
STD I've liked so far, but while it looks vaguely town, STD is a legendary player whose skills at scum mean that this is not out of what I imagine STD's scumrange to be.
Equinox is similar, in looking town but not being locktown yet.
Nexus I lean town on from his opener but I need more to be sure.
DeasVail is pure gut.
Bell and deep-city-lights are both gut from the algorithm.
T3 is hard to get a lock on, but I do lean scum from T3's content overall.
Church of Skitter is Ali and that comes with the disclaimer that I can't read Ali worth shit, but I feel like I should be able to read Mena here. So far nothing town from them and they look scum but it's not locked.
Titus's townplay has degraded to the point where just about every game of hers I think her towngame is her as scum, and this is why she's not lockscum--but she looks and breathes scum to me right now; my previous inaccuracies are the only reason she's not lockscum here.
Vaxkiller isn't even trying to hide that he's scum here.
And Et Al is my largest scumread because it is the hydra I would expect to be the towniest slot in the game--skitter is a bloody paragon, both having won the award and being at that level to receive nominations multiple consecutive years. I would expect her to, very quickly, radiate town. She hasn't. But more than that, Something_Smart also is someone I would expect to see town in if he were town. I'm not seeing it. In fact what I'm seeing reminds me of scum-S_S.-

No two towngames are exactly alike. There are games where I will pick up on mechanical loopholes the mod didn't and then there are games where I will herpaderp and blatantly not grasp fundamental game mechanics--the divide between these isn't town vs scum, it's game vs game.In post 139, Prism wrote:

I would expect similar from you. In fact it is specifically BECAUSE of that difference but similarity to me, if that makes sense. Plus I think that your posts overall have more similarity between games than you give yourself credit for. I'm pretty sure that while you may not have considered your posts in Warehouse 13 to be shitposting, you had a fair amount of posting that wasn't entirely serious--at least that's what my memory told me. Basically you are giving off similar vibes and similar an aura to that game. Not literally identical, obviously, but similar. Similar in a way that seems town.-

I've gotten significantly more competent at townplay since the last DEFCON. Oh, that?In post 369, Bell wrote:@Mastina, you didn't really answer the question about why you write so much, I'm curious too!
Simple; I'm autistic.
Being autistic means that I struggle to find the words most people use, so I use ten words to say what others say with two, because my brain is wired in such a way that I literally couldn't think of the two words to say until after I had said the ten, usually by someone pointing out "couldn't you have said those ten words by using just these two?".
There's also a desire to perfectly capture the concept of my thought and translate it into text. If I feel like the concept isn't explained with just one word/sentence even if one word/sentence might be sufficient to get the general idea, I add extras to reinforce the more exact meaning.
That, combined with a desire for literary flow. Even with my autistic ass brain, I can cut out some words here and there but deliberately choose to leave them in--because I made the judgement call that in having done so, the words flow better. Adding in rhymes, adding in alliteration, adding in repetition, where otherwise it would be absent.
Actually I am RIDICULOUSLY good at picking up someone trying to be town without actually BEING town. Like, if scum are trying to look town without being town, I'm almost definitely, like 90+%, going to catch them.In post 372, Bell wrote:Rather that she tends to pick up on people who are trying to look town and town reads them.
Unfortunately, for whatever reason, scum aren't exclusively among those who try to be town without being town; I will scumread town who I believe were trying to look town without them actually being town.
So my problem isn't reading scum trying to be town as town; my problem is reading town trying to be town as scum.
I'm fairly good at identifying some town that're genuinely BEING town, but unfortunately there are some instances of scum that act in a way that I feel wasn't forced, where they were organic and natural in a way that radiated town energy in spite of them being scum. These instances are fairly rare tho because most scum can't do that, they can either try to be town without being town or don't try to be town and don't look town.
A player able to radiate town without forcing it, without trying to, as scum, is the hallmark of the highest caliber of scum player. That or the sheer dumbest luckiest ones who accidentally manage to achieve the feat while ignorant of having done so.-

Quite possibly. He's only posted once this game and it was over three days ago. As far as I can tell his last post onsite was in this game but I trust you to be more knowledgeable about UT than I am so if you say that he's been around since then I'm inclined to believe that makes him scum.
Well basically Bell is the new Creature; as scum, he can fake effort for a short while but over long periods of time, if he's posting lots and lots and his content is good, he's town; if he's not, he's scum.In post 509, joqiza wrote:would anyone mind fleshing out the bell divergent town/scum game for me btw?

I've given up on giving scumastina that credit. She'll be worth that credit again when she shows she's worthy of it but for...what, three years now? It's gotta be getting to that mark by now. She's consistently failed to show worthiness of the credit. In post 536, Et Al wrote:

It's no less true this game than any of my previous towngames; this could always be a return of scumastina to her prime, at least in theory.

Exactly what it sounds like: a dynamic where the users cannot be scum-scum and cannot be scum-town because if it were scum-scum they wouldn't be able to keep it up and if it were scum-town the scum would struggle to realistically keep it up in a way fooling the town.In post 543, joqiza wrote:i'm not sure what you mean when you say "a dynamic scum can't create" though

Fair warning, am very rired tandomly tonight for some reason. Dunno why but I'm very much not exactly lcid right now. I'm very very sleepy but I know that there's a good chance I won't be around tomorrow (my yusual off days are Tuesday and Saturday) so I feel like I should try tonight in spite of my tiredness.
Depends. Peak scumastina or recent scumastina? The answer is different between the two. Peak scumastina is perfectly capable of doing just about anything, putting myself out there among them. Recent scumastina is a lurksack lurkfuck who posts the bare minimum amount to not be replaced, posts readslists rarely if ever, pushes barely enough to scrape by, doing just the amount needed to not die and often even when at threat of death doesn't do the needed towkr to avert it.In post 572, samantha97 wrote:does mastina usually put themselves out there like that as mafia
No, no, there was more, I was asked to explain how you were different and the lack of radiating town energy is the main way which you were different. There was also the fact that you seemed like scum, but you always seem like scum. The main difference between town you and scum you is that scum you looks like scum while trying to force being town and lacking a town auro whereas town you looks like scum while actually radiating a town auro.In post 563, Vaxkiller wrote:I don't buy this. I'm your BIGGEST scum read. and this is all you got? I'm not radiating town energy?
However. While that was my initial assessment, I'm actually having second thoughts. It might be the tiredness factor but I actually AM seeing the town aura tow and it doesn't feel forced, it doesn't feel out of place, it actually looks reak so that means that I'm thinking you might actually be town here.
marry was around for one page--one page was all I needed for the pichu(Hectic)-Ydrasse dynamic to townread it.In post 571, joqiza wrote:so @mastina to be clear the unnerving thing about your read was the fact that you said you townread me AND marry. She really has not been present enough to have much of an idea abt her alignment besides rand.Obviously, I would prefer more. And overall, I think you more town than marry (similar to how I thought Hectic more town than Ydrasse), in that IF the dynamic was faked the faker would be marry not you, but from what I've seen so far I'm not inclined to believe it was a fake. It's basically just. I could be wrong but I feel that for an earlygame read it's perfectly fine, it's a sort of thing that I can refine and revisit at a later time if need be but I'm going to stick by my initial impression of the dynamic being just...dynamic. For lack of a better term to use.

It's specifically BECAUSE it's a not-alignment-related friendship that it's a duyamic hard for scum to fake. It's something that scum struggle with, that sort of fluff with a tone that's hard to describe hwere they have a certain aura, a certain energy to them, that they bounce off of each other. Resonating with wone another and bouncing off of each other, sound waves amplified by the other where they play off of each other in a dynamic fluid way hard to fake. I call it the Ydrasse-Hectic (well, Ydrasse-pchu in the game it happened) dynamic because I have the tendency to call the dynamic after the most memorable example of a dynamic in recent memory and the most meomorable example of it to me was FL vs Titus thus the name of it being such.In post 579, Et Al wrote:
Sure, but why on earth does this apply to these two? They each have only a few posts toward each other, and they seem to mostly reflect a non-alignment-related friendship, which wouldn't be fake even if one or both of them were scum.In post 551, mastina wrote:Exactly what it sounds like: a dynamic where the users cannot be scum-scum and cannot be scum-town because if it were scum-scum they wouldn't be able to keep it up and if it were scum-town the scum would struggle to realistically keep it up in a way fooling the town.
Oh hey I am also technically Seattleish. Technically, in that I believe I count as "greater Seattle area" (which I believe is counted as "within 50 miles of Seattle" or something like that), because I live between Snohomish and Monroe, Washington. (More specifically, I live basically dead center between Snohomish, Monroe, and Lake Stevens, the three city-towns nearest to me, with me very near the intersections of Highway 2 and Highway 9. Tho the nearest city=-cty to me isn't Deeattle, it'd be Everatt because Everett be closer to me on I-5.)In post 590, marry wrote:sad that i'm not seeing a wife option in the troops...
HI CEPHRIR IM ALSO SEATTLE-ISH!!!
Kinda surprised you didn't comment on my location since I have the between Shohomish and Monroe listed in there. (Even if you don't know the city of Snohomish Seattle's very near the county of Snohimish being just nearby, I think Seattle's technically King County tho? Could be wrong about that obv. I did get my Washington geography wrong for Kitsap County for instance so my Washington geogrpahy skills are somewhat lacking.)-

Definitely liking DV town more for this btw. Dunno what about it, but it just is that this post reosnates as town for me in a way that I don't know why it's town it just IS town to me.In post 648, DeasVail wrote:A lot of this has felt like just waiting for nukes and stuff.

Honestly, it feels like the pressure comes from largely scum because I legit feel like if town felt I was scum, they wouldn't use a vote to express it.In post 650, DeasVail wrote:And the mastina pressure feels appropriate
(Basically, not sure if that makes sense but like. If scum wanted to put pressure on me as an elimination, they would do os with their votes. But it feels like town whould instead of using votes to express thier suspicion instead just nuke me and get the flip that way.)
Obviously not all the votes on me are from scum, but I think scum are among the ones who pressur e me now.
Basically this, essentially. It feels like the push on me is incredibly unnatural. In post 664, gorilla wrote:Honestly the pressure on mastina feels more awkward than mastina herself, I called out her entry post but seeing that it was a joke makes it effectively null, her reads are just whatever to me, definitely think if she's town some scum saw her as an easy push (Church and Lady's "votes" look iffy in that regard).

Titus might be town here btw. Another tired-induced read maybe but I think that this post is town and it's enough to make me put her higher than she was at least. In post 680, Titus wrote:I am having trouble getting into this game. I may just lol nuke when nukes are a thing.

I mean in general. In post 724, Bell wrote:Did Gorilla just say we should get the lurkers
Eliminating lurkers is protown even if the lurkers aren't exclusively scum.
Lurkerpool is almost alwayus guong to ave at least SOME of the scum, if not MOST of them. Rarely does it contain ALL of the scum but it usually is in the 50-75% range of the scumteam being lurkers. So you're guaranteed to hit scum by shooting the lurkers.
Added bonus: if the town eliminates the lurkers, then even if the scum try to balance it out by eliminating the active posters, the overall activity will remain close to the same, rather than slowing down. Whereas if the town eliminates more active slots and the scum also eliminate the more active slots the game slows down because wit the active slots dead, the lkurkers as all that's left sont' dtop lurking just because they're the only ones left alive.
Plus in a game like this, with nukes available, when in doubt: nuke it out. As in, when you have doubts, nuke the lurker slot out. We can literally cull the herd of players by nuking the lurkers.
In this game specifically I doubt we get all the scum from nuking lurkers. Scum probably have 1-3 more active players, my guess being loosely around ~2. But that's still...how many scum are in this game? 4? 5? If there's 1-3 active scum players that's 1-4 (depending on number of lurkers and number of scum) scum in the lurkers, probably closer to the higher end of at least two.
So basically. I see the merit bhdin the theory.-

The Olympia area is where I'm pretty sure my various nephews (from my rather promiscuous half-brother) are!In post 900, marry wrote:i didnt see yours!! i'm in olympia!!!!!!!
I'm also somewhat familiar with the Renton area due to teen square dance clubs that were homed there.
You think 2011-2013 EMer makes you old, try being a 2008-2010 EMer. I was on EpicMafia prominently before I was on mafiascum prominently and actually honed my skills there pretty well, and often in weeks had like top-20 placements on the weekly leaderboard without ever going too high (which I was fine with as being the highest gave burden of proficiency and got you policy-nk'd).In post 910, Prism wrote:LLD is going to have an aneurysm if all of EM winds up townblocking

Pooky can soulread Ydrasse btw so Ydrasse is locktown. I was already thinking town but if Pooky says Ydrasse is town, then Ydrasse is town.
This is not knowledge I had; the knowledge I had is that dcl confirmed but never posted in this game per the mod which looked suspect. If dcl didn't leave all their games, but left this one, that would in fact be suspicious, indicating a reason to not want to be in this game. Leaving all games does indeed make it not alignment indicative, sure--but I've some reason to suspect the slot from the replacementIn post 858, Save The Dragons wrote:i think dcl left all their games so i don't find their replacement ai.anywayin that this VFP is not the town VFP that I've seen before.
