Why are you so obsessed with not figuring out what is going on here? This is clearly not a normal game with normal rules, and playing it like it is will lead to serious problems for the town. In both SEM games I've been in, the mechanics have had a huge impact on how the game was played.

In this situation they preserve a lynch so that a rambling, incoherent player can be taken out of the game so that they will no longer cause a distraction to the town.
