Self-voting in RVS, while dumb, isn't any more dumb than most of what goes on in RVS. It's barely-holds-water theorycrafting to attribute a self vote to "wanting to be part of the group"-itis.

That said, Deathnote has now done two scummy things during RVS:

- Jumping on the C-Worl randomroflwagon
- Tried to rationalize an RVS self-vote into reasoning for a real vote.

vote Deathnote

I'll take that as enough to start easing out of RVS.

That logic says that all trolls are scum.

It'd be nice, but that's false information.

You are somewhat sidestepping the issue here. The argument on the policy lynch appears to be that people want to get rid of C-Worl because his meta indicates he does not contribute enough to warrant keeping him in the game. His recent posts say otherwise, so I'm fine with keeping him as long as he scumhunts and maintains interest. Outside of the policy lynch, he hasn't done anything scummy or lynch-worthy.

This feels like a scum-driven event, shucking votes, maybe transferring to someone else.

Went and re-read the thread, the C-Worl wagon was 9 people unless I'm missing an unvote (MehPlusRawr, Parabollocks, Reckoner, Katsuki, Chronopie, Diddin, Vezok, dramonic, Hiraki), so I don't think it's a direct transfer.

If it's town-driven... hell whoever is driving this I don't really see the point.

Actually... Can someone listed above here please re-instate a vote on C-Worl, and then can we get another quick
votecount
to ensure we don't have a bunch of people who've lost their voting ability today?

It's four posts. So far it says very little. You, on the other hand, are starting to sound like you are flailing about looking for something to grab onto.

I did note, however, that both my own role PM and the (fucked up) town role PM example from the first post show a green color alignment. The mod posting on this daykill showed Blue character names. So I'm assuming the dead people were third party. There's no mention anywhere in the rules that this is partial reveal.

Stop voting? Really? If there really is a countdown, shouldn't we be lynching someone? I'm believing veroz's claim at the moment, and would rather not lose a cop if this countdown is nefarious. I'm guessing if there is a countdown, veroz doesn't get tickles and cupcakes when it expires.

Can you explain your logic about not voting? The fact that you bring up a countdown mechanic from a previous game as a reminder, then try to get everyone to stop voting really seems like you'd be happy to see a potential Veroz countdown timer expire on its own.

Also, I'll point out again that the last votecount posted is missing a bunch of votes on it, including your test one, and a few others, despite the mod explicitly stating that the event on Veroz was the one that cleared votes.

Kise wrote:

Can I just ask a question here...

Is this game just filled to the brim with terrible players?

It seems that every time we start discussing someone, or find something scummy worth looking at, we get 2-3 people step out and go "Oh, don't worry about that, such and such is actually just horrible at Mafia... Oh, don't worry about that, such and such just claims D1 every time... oh don't worry about that, he's just a little retarded...."

DK's apparent defense against his flipflopping was that he felt pressured. In my experience, town tends to be at least a little stubborn about defending their cases (kinda like I'm doing right now), at the very least to get some sort of response out of the person you are accusing. DK put forth a bad one, but dressed it up with "confidence" and "bluster". It looks like a duck, and it walks like a duck.

But everyone's a VI according to.... everyone. I'm thinking this was a bad game to come back to MS on.

I feel this is a misrep. I placed my vote on a person based on them behaving in a way I feel is scummy. I explained why. I don't feel that it's meaningless. Your language dismisses my vote without really saying anything.

I'll own this, without reservation. The point I am attempting to make is that I feel legitimate scumhunting in this game (not just mine, btw) is being cockblocked by meta evaluation at every turn.

Because it's clearly stated in the rules that this is standard town vs. scum, with a mini-game.
We know the hunter flips are involved in the mini-game somehow

False. Other alternatives have been divulged within this game. Yet your certainty remains.

----

I'm concerned about the speed of the Anti wagon at this point. He's L-2. We're four days into a three week deadline. If I understand the general point of the current voters correctly, the main concern appears to be excessive setup speculation, but half the game has been setup speculation, I'm not feeling why Anti is being singled out. I had a look at the voting patterns so far:

C-Worl Early Wagon: DeathNote, Niraki, dramonic, MehPlusRawr, Parabollocks, Reckoner, Katsuki, Chronopie, Diddin, Vezok

DK Wagon: Moratorium, MPR, Panzer, Vezok, Antifinity, Lowell, Parabollocks, bonsnox, Bunnylover

Antifinity Wagon: Recknoer, popsofctown, diddin, JPSalazar, Ghostwriter, Katsuki, Quilford, ooba, MPR, HellloooNewman, Parabollocks, Panzerjager, Hiraki

People who have been on all three wagons: MehPlusRawr and Parabollocks. Neither of their C-Worl votes were RVS, more PL and realvote.

Reread them both, MPR has been low-contribution mostly (no-content pony posts, "STOP VOTING GUYS", etc..) and has one post that I'd loosely qualify as scumhunting (asking all the idle non-voters why they aren't voting.).

Parabollocks RVS's C-Worl, realvotes C-Worl (percieved as "flipped suddenly"), buddies Hiraki, wagons DK blindly (dumb or scum explanation after being called out on this blind vote), wagons Anti by quoting him and not explaining why he's voting.

unvote

vote Parabollocks

MPR at least is making some effort to call people out and get a conversation going. Parabollocks just seems like a typical bandwagonner.

C-Worl Early Wagon: DeathNote, Niraki, dramonic, MehPlusRawr, Parabollocks, Reckoner, Katsuki, Chronopie, Diddin, Vezok

Antifinity Wagon: Recknoer, popsofctown, diddin, JPSalazar, Ghostwriter, Katsuki, Quilford, ooba, MPR, HellloooNewman, Parabollocks, Panzerjager, Hiraki

these two wagons have a lot of similar votes on them. im not sure what to think of this, but i believe that its probable that scum could also be within voters that shifted from the c-worl wagon to the antinfinity wagon, without being on the dkab wagon.

I'm not sure how useful it would be to approach this from a "which of these two wagons had more scum" perspective, as it would require reads on every single voter. With the current very high number of players, the more efficient solution I'm attempting is to examine a few individuals with suspect voting patterns. However, as time goes on, the more data we accumulate on who went on what wagon the better. And if that act alone forces scum to re-evaluate whether to push a weak wagon for fear of their voting record, we profit with less weak wagons pushed.

But yes, it is highly likely that your last observation is correct.

Katsuki: C-Worl wagon, Antifinity Wagon, mentions lynching DK, been on or near all the wagons, Low-content poster. Likely scum.

KDub: Scumhunting, votes on Parabollocks based on three seperate occasions with light cases (small Para -> C-Worl exchange, vote reset testing, and poison testing), received poison vote which seems like a scummy power, likely town.

Bunnylover: Breadcrumbing that they are a Chocobo. KWEH. Lots of VI defense (on reckoner, on Vezo, on DK). Null.

Midnight's Sorrow: No posts for a week, posting consists more of descriptions of the game condition and very little scumhunting. Had a vote on me at one point but never really explained why. Was claimed as mason partner by Panzerjager. In isolation, leaning scum. With claim, leaning town, as there has been no counterclaim so far.

Chronopie: No posts since the 1st (stated Limited access). was on original C-Worl wagon. Null for Limited access claim.

LobsterCatapult: Setup speculation/interpretation, calls out MPR on "STOP THE FUCK VOTING GUYS", believes and then defends vezok's D1 cop claim (which vezok later states is a lie), scumhunts, VCA's, Town.

vezokpiraka: Claims cop, breadcrumbs that he isn't actually a cop, breadcrumbs that he's trying to entice scum to kill him N1, claims oneshot Commuter, if all of that is a scumplay it's a pretty damn good one. Town.

Hiraki: Purposeful low-content VI. Plays like this is EpicMafia. Most cases consist of "JUMP ON THIS SHIT RETARDS". Null.

HellloooNewman: Miller claim, DK VI Defense, then apparently makes DK his #1 policy lynch forever, then goes back to the Antifinity miswagon. "Scumdar=Raging" on a townflip. Leaning scum.

diddin: No posts since the 2nd, attempts a PL, rides Antifinity miswagon, defends Katsuki VI, defends DK VI, basically low content, leaning scum.

Panzerjager: RVS selfvote, "Gonna just go with the flow D-1 til the picture stops being so fuzzy.", votes 6 different ways, Claims Mason with Midnight's Sorrow and Pappum's rat. In isolation, leaning sucm. With claim, leaning town, as there has been no counterclaim so far.

MPR: Ponies. Is on all three early wagons. "STOP THE FUCK VOTING GUYS". Leaning Scum.

Quilford/Chesskid: Low content, votes have very little case information, Leaning scum.

bobsnox: Soft support of wagon of the hour, Hammered mislynch on Anti, some scumhunting. Null.

JP Salazar: Somewhat low contribution, scumhunts based on Reck's suggestion, "I have nothing to add, because this is getting stupid". Null.

Lowell: Low content, makes some evaluations on players. Is the Lowell I remember. Null.

DeathNote: Low content, puts up a reasonable defense to my early vote, feels more like town waiting for the smoke to clear than lurking scum. Leaning town.

Parabollocks: On all wagons, blatant case sheeping to put attention on bobsnox after being asked for a case that took a long time to emerge. Scum.

Amrun: Scumhunts, Content, reasonable arguments. Calling people out on their dumbshit. Town.

popsofctown: NOT the popsofctown i remember, is putting together coherent arguments, Amrun <-> popsofctown very much comes off as two townies arguing. Leaning town.

This more or less applies to me too. I had been writing up a case on C-Worl and Ooba as I went, as potential scum. Then they had to go and die / fulfil w/c, leaving me w/out a suspect.

So JPSalazar, Chronopie and Parabollocks all profess to having "no reads".

Sorry, but that just translates to "I'm too lazy to read the game" for me, with a pinch of "I'm scum and can't fabricate that many opinions". If I can sit down and ISO everyone in the game (and that post took me probably thirty minutes, just a quick skim on everyone), anyone can. Opinions on recent topics:

Amrun <-> Pops is still two townies.

Kdub appears to be rolefishing on Hiraki's "100% scum" declaration.

We still have a bit too many VI's/Low content/"GET ON MAH WAGON" players.

Hiraki needs to expand on what he means in post #787 where he just linked to some apparently random game.

Parabollocks's defense on being on every early game wagon appears to boil down to "It was only three wagons". Three is enough, it was every early wagon, and your vote shifts had minimal public reasoning behind them.

Para's case on bobsnox feels like weak tea to me, but I'd still like to see a response from bobsnox.

VCA isn't based on opinion, and I find it generally accurate when in the relatively early game due to scum not feeling threatened by their vote trail due to sheer number of other voters.

I'll readily admit to saying that claiming before I'm near L-1 is generally the stupidest thing to do, and I'd be lying if I tried to say that I was doing some sort of strategy. I was pissed, decided to sleep it off, and then ISO Panzerjager, because I've wanted to e-bitchslap him for about 3 pages now.
First Post (#0): Votes self, probably for laughs.
Second post: Jumps up, says DeathNote is scum.
Posts 3/4: Annoyance, assuming scum.

Goess off, wants to hammer Antifinity, unhammer, hammer...liked the Deity wagon. Really not, by and large, a help.

What's got me bothered still is:

Panzerjager wrote:I say we lynch DK, In a 30 player game we can certainly afford to mislynch a player who is this anti-town.
on D1, I don't mind lynching someone who is anti-town over someone we think is scum but is playing somewhat well.

You should NEVER try to do this. EVER.
Then the small back-and-forth with Reck:
Panzerjager wrote:
xRECKONERx wrote:Also if you were a mason why the fucking hell did you not vote me yesterday when everyone thought I had claimed masons with kats

I missed it entirely to be honest.

But I don't think you ever hard claimed also the context seemed jokeish.

Really? You can miss THAT, but not anything on my posts? I forgot who said it, but they're right - at least one or two people who've been on the bandwagon are scum. Reck had thrown an early case that Midnight's Sorrow should throw a case on Moratorium or shut up. Panzer's claim to be Mason with Midnight's Sorrow could be a fair enough scumplay, as Kats can't agree or disagree.

Vote: Panzerjager

This all feels contrived. You're getting some attention, and so now, holy hell, you better put some effort into building something that could be seen as a case on someone if you squint right.

Was there any doom-saving mechanic in any other squareenix games? Something akin to:

Town DeathNote: 11 (Hiraki, KDub, Amrun, bobsnox, JPSalazar, HellloooNewman, Parabollocks, popsofctown, Moratorium, LobsterCatapult, MehPlusRawr)
Town popsofctown: 9 (Amrun, HellloooNewman, Chronopie, Moratorium, bobsnox, JPSalazar, Panzerjager, Lowell, KDub)
Scum HellloooNewman killed by JPSalazar
Scum Amrun: 7 (JPSalazar, Katsuki, Hiraki, vezokpiraka, Lowell, bobsnox, Moratorium)
Current Wagon Bunnylover: (Hiraki, Panzerjager, vezokpiraka, Chronopie)

+1 for vote on scum, -1 for vote on town, didn't assign current wagon any points.

0 Katsuki
-2 KDub
-1 BunnyLover
0 Nero Cain (replaced Midnight's Sorrow)
-1 Chronopie
0 vezokpiraka
-1 Hiraki
-2 Panzerjager
0 Moratorium
-2 bobsnox
0 Lowell

Of KDub, Panzer and bobsnox, bob was on all three town wagons, and got onto the scum wagon late. It's not a great case, but at least it's factual. No one has a positive number, which just tells me we're badtown, got lucky with JP's hit on Newman, and scum has removed everyone that was anywhere close to the right track and left us with a town full of twitch. I don't really understand what the case is on Bunnylover ("coy?"), so...
