The following is an example of the Vanilla Town role PMs that exist in this game:

The year is 1775.

You are an ordinary
Member of the Continental Army,
(Vanilla Townie)
, a militiaman from the colony of Connecticut. Having been outraged by the unfairness of taxation without representation, and filled with patriotic fervor, you have enlisted in the colonial forces, that you might fight to defend the liberty and secure the independence of your homeland.

You desire the defeat of the Royal Expeditionary Force, but have only your vote, your voice, and your burning sense of national pride to assist you in this endeavor.

You win when all members of the Royal Expeditionary Force have been defeated, provided at least one Patriot survives.

1) Votes must be in bold for them to count, like this:
Vote: Bill.
Unvotes likewise. Unvoting is not required to place a new vote, but would be appreciated.

2) A simple majority of votes (1/2 the number of living players plus one, rounded down) will achieve a lynch and end the Day. Unvoting after that point will not save someone's life. Should deadline be reached without this occurring, the player with the highest number of votes will be lynched. For this to happen, there must be an unique vote leader- ties between two or more players will cause no-lynch to occur.

3) Dead men tell no tales. If you get killed, stop talking until the game is over (a single "go town/scum"-style post is fine). A dead QT will be provided for those who die.

4) Do not discuss this game with other players outside of this thread (unless specifically permitted by your role PM) nor other ongoing games in this thread.

5) Play to your win condition at all times.

6) Robust cryptography and steganography are not permitted.

7) Racist, homophobic, and sexist pejoratives should not be used, and will result in penalties for that player up to and including modkill. You have been warned.

8) Submitting night actions: All actions must be PMed to the King George III hydra. Submitting in a QT is expressly NOT acceptable. A mafia member who submits a nightkill will not also be able to perform their role's night action.

10) Deadlines for this game will be two weeks for days one and two, and ten days for all subsequent days. One day will be added to the deadline for each replacement that occurs on a given day or during the night preceding it. Extensions will only be granted in exceptional circumstances.

11) Prods will be issued after 48 hours of inactivity if no V/LA notice is received. Players will have 36 hours from the time of the prod to post in thread or be replaced. If a single player exceeds the prod limit more than twice in a game day or three times in the game as a whole, they will be auto-replaced.

12) If at any point four consecutive phases, night or day, pass with no deaths, then all factions will be considered to have lost.

13) Nightkill methods will not be differentiated in such a way as to identify the killer.

14) This game is guaranteed not to include any Cults, Jesters, or Death Millers. As this is a theme game, anything not expressly forbidden by this list is possible.

15.
Purple
is Our regal colour. Do not use it, you treasonous swine!

August 23rd, 1775

The so-called "Patriots" of the North American Colonies and their treacherous "Continental Congress" are hereby held to be in treason against their King. All loyal British subjects are called to use their utmost endeavours to withstand and suppress such rebellion. Those who ally themselves with the forces of sedition and disloyalty will be met with the full force of His Majesty's armies.

Please confirm in thread. The game will begin when fifteen players have confirmed.

How is that clear? The first post lists the game state as 'Day Four' (not, say, 'Game Over') and lists four players still living.

Once the link is reported to you as being ongoing, and you check and see that the gamestate is listed as 'Day Four' and four alive, that's more than 'a little' checking. It's not unreasonable to expect mods to keep their first posts up-to-date.

MOD – You should probably be looking for both Starbuck and Snake replacements

Starbuck is being prodded, for the first time.

Snake isn't even close to being replaced. There are players who haven't declared V/LA, and have posted both fewer times in total and less recently than him without ever getting in prod range.

CMAR will be auto-replaced if he gets within prod range for a third time this game day, as per rule 11.

The first major military offensive of the Revolutionary War took place in late 1775. Patriot armies based in Massachusetts and New York marched north and attempted to take control of the British province of Quebec. They were successful in taking Montreal, but met with stiff resistance at Quebec City at the end of the year.

The Revolutionary forces launched an attack into the bitter snowstorm, and despite the adverse conditions, some brilliant leadership by their generals lead to the walls being breached, and American forces pouring into the city. Most of the garrison either surrendered or were slaughtered, and the rebels were particularly elated to have wiped out a detachment of German mercenaries who had been sent to bolster the defense of the city, under the leadership of
Lieutenant General Wilhelm von Knyphausen.
The news of the taking of the city was met with great jubilation by all those who were on the side of the rebellion, and caused them to face the new year of 1776 with renewed optimism that the might of the King's men could and would be defeated by the superior local knowledge and burning desire for freedom of the Continental Army.

You have won a victory, and one must admit, an impressive one. Yet, it shall be temporary. While these mercenaries have performed lamentably, you will surely find that those who wear red will be made of noticeably sterner stuff.

Spring of 1776 was a difficult one for the rebels. The arrival of a squadron of the Royal Navy under Captain Charles Douglas lead to the Loyal forces retaking Quebec, and the Americans were subsequently driven back from their positions in Canada. A second attempt to push into Canada was beaten back at Trois-Rivieres in June. Among the casualties was an officer of the Massachusetts militia by the name of
Paul Revere,
a Boston Silversmith who had gained a measure of fame amongst the colonists for setting up an advanced warning system to alert Continental Army sympathizers of British incursions. No longer would his famous cry of 'The Regulars are coming out!' ring through the streets as a sign of danger.

The Canadian campaign over, attention shifted to New York, where in August 1776, having been forced to withdraw from Massachusetts, the Royal Expeditionary Force launched a concerted attempt to take the city.

Our armies shall drive you from your lairs and back into the sea!

Having formally declared independence only a month before, the forces of the Colonial militia faced a fierce backlash from his Majesty's own regulars, who were deployed in greater than expected numbers following the Royal Expedition Force's humiliation at Quebec. Having spent over a month being reinforced by sea, the Regulars numbered over thirty thousand men, and the Royal Navy controlled New York Harbor. Expecting an assault on Manhatten, the Continental Army moved the bulk of their forces there. However the British concentrated their attacks on the Guan Heights on Long Island, and by attacking the defenders from both sides secured a crushing victory. Gradually, the British drove the continentals back, but the leadership of the rebel forces were shrewd and managed to avoid wholesale casualties. However, a large detachment of
Militia
from what was now the State of
Connecticut
died almost to a man trying to hold their position. Their colleagues mourned them, but there would be many battles yet to fight. The fate of the fledgling nation hung in the balance.

We hold this truth to be self-evident, that Our armies are the finest in the world, that they have been endowed by their training with certain abilities, and that among these is the merciless destruction of traitors!

Majiffy,
Member of the Continental Army,
(Vanilla Townie)
was lynched Day Two (Autumn 1776).

IT IS NOW NIGHT TWO (SPRING 1777). Initial deadline will be for 9PM BST on Saturday (9/29) however an extension may be required in order to find replacements.

In any war, there will be casualties. Men with families. Men with careers. Men with ambitions and talents that are cruelly snuffed out like a reading light in a gale. Such a man was
John Hancock.
A merchant, statesman, and prominent supporter of the revolution, he was captured as the Tory forces, building on their victory at New York, swept down through New Jersey and occupied Philadelphia. While most members of the Continental Congress were able to flee to safety when the redcoats took the city, Hancock was captured and summarily executed for his 'treason.' Would he go down in history as a martyr, or a criminal?

Meanwhile, in the North, British forces swept down from Canada with the intent of cutting New England off from the remaining colonies. Pushing south towards Albany, the Royal Expeditionary Force was met by a rebel army some 10 miles south of Saratoga, New York. The stage was set for one of the most important battles of the war.

Thy own people are turning against thee. Repent now, and thy end shall be swift.

Empking, John Hancock,
Patriot
(Townie)
was killed Night Two (Spring 1777).

It is now Day Three (Autumn 1777). With fifteen alive, eight votes are required to achieve a lynch. Due to two overnight replacements, deadline will be set for Thursday 11th October, 8PM BST (3pm Eastern).

As the Royalist forces headed south, their progress was slowed by logistical concerns. Nevertheless, they were able to bring 8,000 men to bear at the battle of Freeman's farm on 19 September, and through skilful generalship were able to avoid much in the way of significant casualties. At the same time, a second force fought its way through the Hudson Valley, capturing American forts along the way. This second British force arrived to reinforce their brethren halfway through October 7th's battle of Bemis Heights, and the additional troops proved decisive. The Loyal forces routed the Continentals, and were able to ensure that Albany, Saratoga, and the rest of greater New York were brought back firmly under control of His Majesty's forces. A division of
Continental Militia
who had been brought up all the way from
Georgia
in a desperate attempt to reinforce the revolutionaries' position found themselves in an impossible position, in unfamiliar territory and faced with a superior Loyalist force, and unsurprisingly turned and fled back to their homes far away in the South.

The consequences of this British victory were profound. The northern, Quebec-based divisions of the Royal Expeditionary Force were able to link up with their fellows in New York City, gaining a significant strategic advantage. In addition, this Loyalist victory convinced the French King, Louis XVI, who had been considering committing forces to the rebel cause, to keep his powder dry, at least for the moment.

Surely now it is only a matter of time? Who now would doubt the victory of the glorious Royal Expeditionary Force?

OhGodMyLife,

Having been victorious at Saratoga, the British forces spent the winter and spring of 1777/8 consolidating their grip on the northern colonies. It was a difficult time for the Colonials. Although a harsh winter prevented the Royalists from moving on Boston, the last major city in the North under rebel control, loyal forces nonetheless managed to restore the King's writ in the colonies of Rhode Island and
Delaware
, a valiant rearguard action by the local
Militia
notwithstanding.

As the blossoms appeared on the trees, His Majesty's generals prepared for another great strike against the rebel command. Leaving a garrison to guard New York, the Redcoats marched South, aiming to capture Baltimore where the Continental Congress had fled in the aftermath of the fall of Philadelphia. They were harassed every step of the way by Patriotic skirmishers, and found the city defenses better-prepared and the garrison better-supplied than they had anticipated. The Loyal forces encircled the city, but as the months passed their ability to conduct a long siege with winter on its way came into question. In a strategy meeting that lasted long into the night, the decision to assault the city was taken. It would prove to be a fateful one. But to whose advantage?

Amrun,
Member of the Continental Army,
(Vanilla Townie)
was killed Night Three.

It is now Day Four (Fall 1778). With thirteen alive, seven votes are required to lynch. Deadline will be set for Thursday, 18th October, 10PM BST (I think this is the week when American clocks go forward but British ones haven't yet. I will check the Eastern comparison nearer the time).

13 alive, seven to lynch. Deadline the 18th.

@MOI:
Normal replacement rules will be followed in all aspects regarding SSBF, Pine, and anyone else. I ought to have six days before deadline to find replacements should neither party pick up their prod. Once hammer is achieved, I am required however to lock the thread as soon as I get online. I hope this answers your query.

The capture of Baltimore was intended to be a blow that struck right at the heart of the Revolutionary cause, and when historians consider the history of this conflict, they will all remark on how close it came to succeeding. Research will show that the food supply within the city was far lower than folklore had allowed when the Royal Expeditionary Force made the fateful decision to assault the city's fortifications.

The plan had been for a co-ordinated attacked from three directions at one time. However, an officer by the name of
Charles Cornwallis,
given command of one of the loyal armies, fatefully misunderstood his orders and led his men in a head-on charge before the other two columns were ready. This calamitous misjudgement allowed the defenders to concentrate their firepower against Cornwallis' men, and by the time the generals commanding the other forks of the British trident were alerted of the miscommunication, the British left had suffered horrendous casualties. The Americans, buoyed by their success, emerged from the city to attack the British in the flank, routing them. It was a crushing defeat for loyalism in America.

Impressed by the Americans' decisive victory, Louis XVI finally decided to commit French forces to the Revolutionary cause on December 6th, 1778. The addition of French sea power to that of the fledgling Continental Navy provided a huge boost to the Americans in countering the might of the Royal Navy. Would it be enough to secure the colonies' freedom?

There are obviously some dens of villainy too vile for Our noble regiments to set foot in them.

The winter of 1778/9 was a bitter one. Two periods of severe cold struck at the end of December and during Mid-January, with moderate to heavy snowfall well into February. The Continental Army lacked proper clothing, and the temporary accommodation set up to house them during the depths of the winter, itself having been built during foul weather, was scarcely adequate. Yet, buoyed by their great victory at Baltimore, the revolutionaries endured the conditions with good humor and deep resolve.

The atmosphere among the King's men was less positive. The regulars were far too disciplined to express their dissatisfaction with their leadership out loud, of course, but there was a feeling that victory had been within their grasp, but had been snatched away by the bungled Baltimore operation, and now the war would drag on for several more years at best. Separated from their loved ones by thousands of miles of ocean, it was a difficult time for the men of the Royal Expeditionary Force.

The first thaw of springtime, however, provided the Loyalist troops with the opportunity to get rid of some of that frustration. It had long been known by the British High Command that certain Indian tribes, notable among them the
Lenape
nation, had allied themselves with the rebels and provided them with scouting assistance in return for assurances of recognition of Indian territorial sovereignty that their leader, Koquethagechton (known as
White Eyes
) had negotiated with the fledgling Republic. With their leader dying mysteriously over the winter, the Royalists saw the opportunity to try to turn the natives to their own side. However the British negotiators were unsuccessful, and so decided instead to neutralize the advantage the Lenape were providing the rebels by performing a series of pogroms against the natives' villages and encampments.

When not engaged in what would now be referred to as ethnic cleansing, the British decided to open up a new theater in the conflict. A detachment 3,500 men from the New York garrison sailed south, and captured Savannah, Georgia, intending to use it as a base for operations in the southern states. These men were reinforced by forces who marched north from St. Augustine, Florida. That summer saw several skirmishes in Georgia between the two sides, but it took until October for the Continental Army in the South, bolstered by French naval power in the form of a squadron led by the Comte d'Estaing, to attempt in earnest to re-take the city. The defenses of Savannah were formidable, but could the American commanders find a way through or around them? If they could, then an early end to the war might be in the offing.

Toogeloo, White Eyes,
Indian Tracker and Ally of the Continental Army,
was killed Night Four.

It is now Day Five (Autumn 1779). With eleven alive, six votes are required for a lynch. Deadline is set for October 25th, 2012.

The siege of Savannah was a relatively short one, beginning on the 16th September 1779 and concluding on the 18th October. The besiegers were faced with many problems from the very start of the siege, not least scurvy and dysentery running amok on the French ships stationed off the city. Conditions were little better for the defenders and townsfolk of Savannah - while the rebels' bombardment failed to achieve the desired job of destroying the fortifications of Savannah, they did manage to make an unholy mess of the city itself, with barely a house undamaged.

The combined Franco-American force launched an assault on the 9th of October, but were repulsed by defensive formations including riflemen, who easily picked off the white-clad French troops. Several American and allied officers were severely injured, and while the attackers got as close as the last trench, they were driven back by a furious British counteroffensive. After the failure of the assault, it was only a matter of time before the siege was abandoned.

Meanwhile, in the Northern states, British activities against rebel-aligned Indians continued. Han Yerry Tewahangarahken
(
He Who Takes Up The Snow Shoe
)
an Oneida War Chief who had fought bravely on the side of the rebels during the Saratoga campaign was found murdered. With the loss of their figurehead, the Oneida would fall victim to infighting, and their contribution to the American cause would be greatly diminished.

Indian Tracker and Ally of the Continental Army,
was lynched Day Five.

By 1780, it was clear that the Kingdom of Great Britain could not muster the manpower to totally subdue the revolting Americans whilst at the same time fighting a full-scale European War against the French - as well as the Spanish who had entered the war late in 1779. Large parts of North America, especially Pennsylvania, were rebel strongholds with no reasonable expectation of being subdued any time soon. The plan was therefore to continue to hold New York and Rhode Island, to wreak havoc on the other American ports, and to fight on in the southern states, in the hope that His Majesty's forces would eventually prevail in the European theater, while at the same time the rebellious colonies would grow weary of the attrition of war.

Using Savannah as a base, the British exerted their control over the South, capturing the largest city in the Southern States, Charleston, on May 12th 1780. In this engagement, the Royal Expeditionary Force captured most of the southern Continental Army. On August 16, 1780, the British won a substantial victory at the battle of Camden, putting the REF in position to invade North Carolina. However, the British left flank was surprised to be met by concerted resistance from American militiamen, nine miles south of the present-day town of Kings Mountain, North Carolina. If the patriotic forces were able to win the day, they would be able to take the British center by surprise, and completely arrest the Redcoats' momentum. It was to be another pivotal day in the history of the conflict...

In addition, the Americans mourned the loss of one of the foremost female Patriots,
Betsy Ross.
Ross' husband, Joseph Ashburn, was captured by a British frigate and imprisoned in London on charges of treason, and without her spouse, Ross' health started to fail. Nonetheless, there were many willing to contend that the speed of her decline could not have been accidental.

StefanB, Betsy Ross,
Patriot,
(Townie)
was killed Night Five.

It is now Day Six - Autumn 1780, The Battle of King's Mountain.
Deadline will be set for the 28th October 2012. With nine alive, five votes are required to lynch.

The British vanguard arrived in North Carolina issued a demand that rebel militias in the colony to lay down their arms or face severe retribution. Declining to surrender, the Patriotic forces instead massed to attack. The Royalist commanders decided to retreat to the safety of the main body of British troops, but were ambushed by the Continental militias. The Royalists were almost surrounded, but decisive action by their commanders allowed them to break out of the rebel ring. As a result, the British advance guard was able to reunite with the main body of their army, despite the effort of a group of
continental militia
originally from
New York
to stop them, and the British invasion of North Carolina was able to go ahead full-speed.

Phillamon,
Member of the Continental Army

With the British victory at King's Mountain enabling them to take full control of North Carolina, an uncomfortable stalemate came about. Pennsylvania and most of New England were still in rebel hands, while New York, Rhode Island, and the Southern Colonies were controlled by the Crown. The British plan was to continue to harrass American shipping, hold onto the areas they controlled, and strike against the leaders of the rebellion while they hoped for developments in Europe to free up men to finally subdue the Americans. To this end, rewards were posted for several notable patriots, and the first one was paid out when
John Adams
was delivered to the King's forces by a group of men with whom he had become involved in a quarrel. He was swiftly executed, and his head displayed prominently as a warning to other rebels.

The Americans, meanwhile, had enough forces for one grand assault, and were torn between attacking New York, where the garrison was large but French assistance offered the possibility of outmaneuvering the loyalists, or of pushing south to take on the British in Virginia. On the advice of their Gallic allies, the rebels opted for the latter. They set off for Virginia on August 19th, heading for Yorktown where the Royal Expeditionary Force had constructed a deep-water port with significant defenses.

The Americans won a key naval victory at the Battle of the Chesapeake, preventing reinforcement of the British garrison by sea, but the Royalist stranglehold on the South allowed the British generals to spare some forces in Georgia and the Carolinas to travel overland to assist the defenders. Would these additional troops prove crucial? Or could co-operation between Americans and Frenchmen deliver the kind of blow that would prove the turning point the rebellion desperately needed?

Cobblerfone, John Adams,
Patriot and Trusted Lieutenant of the Continental Army
(Recruited Mason)
was killed Night Six (Spring 1781).

It is now Day Seven (Autumn 1781- The Siege of Yorktown). With seven alive, four votes are needed to lynch. Deadline is 9th November 2012 7.30pm GMT.

OK, so I have a problem here.

I missed Sucrose's unvote because she placed it in the middle of a line. This means that Slandaar has not reached the threshold required to lynch.

However having declared him lynched as a result of the mystery vote manipulation mechanic, to reverse the declaration of his lynch would be to confirm him as town. This would be unfair on the scumteam.

Therefore, unfortunately the lynch must stand. Please save all yelling at me until postgame.

Early in the Morning of September 28th, 1781, 19,000 American and French troops marched from Williamsburg, Virginia in order to surround the British-held seaport at Yorktown. The American leadership decided that the British defences could be bombarded into submission, and accordingly moved their forces into position the following morning. However, things did not go to plan, and the well-supplied Royalist gunners were able to inflict significant casualties on the encircling rebels.

The Americans made slow progress towards the town, and the British gradually and strategically abandoned the outer defenses one layer at a time, causing serious damage to the advancing Continentals for every barricade they had to give up. Eventually the defenders reached the earthworks which immediately surrounded the town, and there prepared to hold their ground in anticipation of

The American and French soldiers occupied the outer defenses themselves, and were able to use these redoubts as firing positions from which to attack the town. Large amounts of collateral damage occurred, but bold counterstrikes by the redcoats allowed them to spike many of the American cannons, leading to a tense stalemate.

This stalement was broken by the arrival of the promised reinforcements of 5,000 of the King's men, who were able to attack the encircling rebels from the rear, causing panic and flight on the part of several American regiments. One cohort, from
Georgia
, suffered particularly heavy casualties with the rest turning tail and heading for home despite their commanders' attempts to rally them.

While the besiegers succeeded in doing enough damage to the town and seaport to prevent the Royal Expeditionary Force from using it as a bridgehead to bring further regulars to the American theater, the arrival of the reinforcements allowed the beleaguered redcoats to evacuate across the York river to Gloucester point, and from there to march back to New York to reunite with the main body of loyal forces. What was left of Yorktown passed into the hands of the rebels, but it was a pyyrhic victory: the Continental Army had suffered heavy casualties, and while the British had been forced to give up their harbor, they were able to remove a huge number of troops who had been effectively trapped and avoid the humiliation of having to surrender. The Americans had missed their chance to score a major strategic victory, and coupled with gains in the European theater against France and Spain, this left the outlook looking extremely positive for His Majesty's armies.

Once the vile Papist dogs of France are brought to heel, the rebellious colonial mongrols will surely follow!

With the inconclusive result at Yorktown, the Revolutionary War became a protracted, bitter mess. The Royalists held New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia along with Rhode Island plus most of the South, while the remainder of Pennsylvania and New England, along with Catholic Maryland remained firm in their desire for a clean break from the motherland and in possession of enough armaments to make subduing them a distant prospect for the Royal Expeditionary Force, especially as the war in the European Theater prevented the Kingdom of Great Britain from supplying the necessary troops for total victory.

Therefore, the campaign became what would later be termed a 'guerrilla' conflict, with bands of rebels striking against REF-held towns and strategic points whenever the British forces were spread too thinly to properly defend them. Meanwhile, the Royal Navy continued to harrass American shipping out of Boston, the one major harbor still under rebel control, in the hope of forcing the revolutionaries into submission by depriving them of international trade.

The Crown also continued its 'decapitation' strategy both by posting large rewards, and also sending out units to search for, the political and military leaders of the revolt. They scored a major success with this when
George Washington,
the commander of the Continental Army, was betrayed by an underling with a grudge and delivered to Royal justice. He was hung for treason, and his body displayed prominently in New York as a warning to those considering pledging themselves to the Patriot cause.

Would this psychological blow prove devastating to the rebels' cause? Or would the proud men of America fight on and yet win the day?

MagnaofIllusion, George Washington,
Commander of the Continental Army
(Friendly Neighbor)

was killed Night Seven. It is now Day Eight (Fall 1782) with five alive, three votes are needed to lynch.

There should be three days to deadline. Since it's thanksgiving weekend and I'm playing a concert on Sunday, I'm going to extend the deadline to Monday night, 9pm GMT (4 Eastern).

As the conflict had dragged on, the British forces had become more and more used to the kind of terrain they were encountering, nullifying the advantage the rebels had enjoyed at the beginning of the war. For this, they were greatly indebted to their Native American allies, especially those of the
Mohawk
Nation, who provided guides and trackers to help the Royal Expeditionary Force move throughout the varied landscapes of North America.

When historians looked back at the failure of the American revolt, many key moments were identified, but two things which occurred in late 1782 became seen as the final nail in the coffin of the revolutionaries. In the European theater, the Kingdom of Great Britain gained enough of an upper hand to force France to go back on its promise never to make a peace which did not contain recognition of American Independence as a central provision, effectively allowing the British a free hand to deal with their colonies as they saw fit in exchange for a cessation of hostilities at home. At the same time, in the colony of
Virginia,
British skirmishers, given a free rein by their general
Sir William Howe
won repeated victories over the local
Militia
, tipping the balance of power toward the Redcoats.

While the revolutionaries were still strong in certain areas, notably Western Pennsylvania and Massachusetts, it became obvious that the Royalists would not be defeated any time soon. With their trade links to Europe cut off by the Royal Navy blockade, and numerous volunteers defecting to the Crown every week, the Continental Army leadership decided to negotiate.

The British Parliamentary leadership, hoping to avoid a recurrence of the revolt several years later, agreed to make some concessions to the colonists, though they fell far short of meeting the demands which had precipitated the Revolution. However, over the following decades, Parliament sensibly granted gradually increased autonomy to the Thirteen Colonies, until they remained part of the Kingdom in name only. Several revolutionary leaders were tried for treason, but
after massive amounts of lobbying by his ministers and with extreme reluctance
spontaneously and with great magnanimity
His Majesty the King agreed to commute their death sentences to confiscation of property and relatively short jail sentences.

And what of the Native tribes who had contributed so hugely to the King's victory? The Crown never forgot its debt to these people, and the Treaty of London, signed in early 1783, which ended the war granted large swathes of land to those peoples which had remained loyal, an agreement to which, to the annoyance of many settlers, the British authorities largely adhered.

survive, and win the game for their side!

It was obvious from the start. Traitors cannot win, because I rule by the mandate of God! Just be greatful that We are as merciful as We are wise!

Roles, night actions etc to come soon. Thanks for playing and again my profuse apologies for my mod error which probably cost the town a fair shot at winning this game. The problem was that literally within a minute of seeing the erroneous votecount, BloodCovenent applied the secret vote and his own basically at the same time, which he wouldn't have done had the VC not stated Slandaar was within hammering range. I couldn't exactly go 'Sorry mate, now you've outed yourself as scum, I have to undo it and confirm the townie you thought in good faith you were hammering.' But it's been nine months of work and waiting to produce this game, and for it to go wrong at the end like that... FML.

Scum Role PMs:

The year is 1775.

You are
General William Howe,
Commander of the Royal Expeditionary Force
(Doublevoting Godfather).

A veteran of several campaigns including the War of the Austrian Succession and the Seven Year's War, His Majesty the King has graciously granted you the opportunity to command his magnificent Royal Expeditionary Force in crushing the traitors and rebels in North America and restoring Royal Power over the ungrateful wretches. You lead a force which also includes _________ (Charles Cornwallis, goon) ______________ (Wilhelm von Knyphausen, goon) and ___________ (Joseph Brant, Indian Tracker). You may communicate with your subordinates at night or during pre-game here: _________________. Each night, you may select one of your number to perform a nightkill: this must be delivered
BY PM,
and if the sender of the PM is different to the player assigned to perform the kill, this must also be made clear.

Your military experience has taught you several useful tactics for putting down the rebellion. To represent this, every time a rebel player is lynched, you will have a secret extra vote the following day. This vote will not affect the threshold required to lynch. It can be deployed at any point during the day by PMing me, but cannot be changed once assigned (in effect, it makes the target a hated townie for that day only). You will not receive your secret vote on any day in which the number of rebels does not exceed the number of REF members by two or more at the start of the day (ie, no secret vote at lylo or milo).

You win when all rebels have been eliminated, or nothing can prevent the same.

________________________________________________________________ ____
The year is 1775.

You are
Lieutenant General Charles Cornwallis,
Officer of the Royal Expeditionary Force
(Mafia Goon).

A member of the British Army hierarchy, while you were a member of the House of Commons, you had shown considerable sympathy with the complaints of the American colonists. However, having been assigned to crush the rebellion by His Majesty, it is your duty to do so with no mercy. You have been assigned to the Royal Expeditionary Force alongside your commander _______________ (General William Howe, Doublevoting Godfather) ____________ (Wilhelm von Knyphausen, Goon) and ____________ (Joseph Brant, Indian Tracker). You may communicate with your comrades at night or during pre-game here: _________________. Each night, you may select one of your number to perform a nightkill: this must be delivered
BY PM,
and if the sender of the PM is different to the player assigned to perform the kill, this must also be made clear.

You win when all rebels have been eliminated, or nothing can prevent the same.

________________________________________________________________ ____
The year is 1775.

You are
Lieutenant General Wilhelm von Knyhausen,
Hessian Mercenary for the Royal Expeditionary Force
(Mafia Goon).

A cautious general, sensitive to the needs of his troops, you lead a cohort of German mercenaries who make up a significant part of the British military presence in North America. You have been hired to fight on behalf of the Royal Expeditionary Force alongside your commander _______________ (General William Howe, Doublevoting Godfather) ____________ (Charles Cornwallis, Goon) and ____________ (Joseph Brant, Indian Tracker).

You are
Joseph Brant,
Indian Tracker and ally of the Royal Expeditionary Force
(Mafia Tracker).

You are a leader of the Mohawk nation, and your people have decided to ally with the crown in exchange for grants of land in Quebec. Your people are hardy outdoorsmen, and you are able to use your familiarity with the terrain in order to pursue members of the Continental Army during the night without being noticed.

Each night, you may submit by PM the name of one other living player. You will track that player, and be informed of whether or not he performs a night action, and if so upon whom.

You have cast your lot in with the Royal Expeditionary Force, consisting of your commander _______________ (General William Howe, Doublevoting Godfather) ____________ (Charles Cornwallis, Goon) and ____________ (Wilhelm von Knyphausen, Goon).

________________________________________________________

If there had been a scum neighbor, Knyphausen would not have been in the game, and this PM would have been used instead:

___________________________________________________________________________________________
The year is 1775.

You are an
American Loyalist and member of the Royal Expeditionary Force
(Mafia Neighbor).

An inhabitant of the colony of New York, you are one of the many colonists in North America who still feels strong ties to the motherland, and feels that rebellion against her is treasonous, no matter how great the provocation. You have signed up to the Continental army in order to spy on it, and as luck would have it, your neighbor ___________ has joined up too! At night, you may communicate with him in this quicktopic: ______________.

You have been volunteered to fight on behalf of the Royal Expeditionary Force alongside your commander _______________ (General William Howe, Doublevoting Godfather) ____________ (Charles Cornwallis, Goon) and ____________ (Joseph Brant, Indian Tracker).

As a note, the GF role PM should have said 'more than two' not 'two or more.' Fortunately, we never got to MiLo.

Here's the town role PMs.
________________________________________________________________

You are an ordinary
Member of the Continental Army,
(Neighbor)
, a militiaman from the colony of New York. Having been outraged by the unfairness of taxation without representation, and filled with patriotic fervor, you have enlisted in the colonial forces, along with your neighbor, ____________. At night, you may communicate with him in this quicktopic: ______________.

You desire the defeat of the Royal Expeditionary Force, but aside from your relationship with your neighbor, have no special abilities to use to defeat the British.

You win when all members of the Royal Expeditionary Force have been defeated, provided at least one Patriot survives.

________________________________________________________________
The year is 1775.

You are
General George Washington,
Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army
(Friendly Neighbor).

The second Continental Congress has granted you the honor of commanding the Patriotic forces for the upcoming campaign. In order to secure the defeat of the Royal Expeditionary Force, you will be able to choose a trusted lieutenant. Once during the game, at night, you may send me the name of another living player. You will invite that player to come to your tent in order to interview him to assure yourself of his loyalty to the American cause. At the end of that night, you will be informed of whether that player is a Patriot or loyal to the Crown, and he will be informed of your identity and affiliation. Should you determine your target to be a reliable supporter of the revolution, the two of you will be permitted to discuss in a quicktopic on subsequent night.

You win when all members of the Royal Expeditionary Force have been defeated, provided at least one Patriot survives.
________________________________________________________________
The year is 1775.

You are
Paul Revere,
Patriotic Nightrider
(One-Shot Double Doctor).

You are a professional silversmith, proud patriot, and excellent horseman. You are able to use your riding skills to warn your fellow revolutionaries about the approach of the British forces. Once only, during the day, you may PM me with a list of two names. That night, you will ride to these individuals' homes and warn them that "The Regulars are coming out!" which will allow them to escape to safety - no attempt on their life will be successful that night. You may alter your protection targets as many times as you wish during the day by PM, but you may not change your choices once a lynch has been achieved.

You win when all members of the Royal Expeditionary Force have been defeated, provided at least one Patriot survives.

________________________________________________________________
The year is 1775.

You are
White Eyes,
Indian Tracker and Ally of the Continental Army
(Tracker).

You are a leader of the Lenape nation, and your people have decided to throw in their lot with the revolutionaries in order to attempt to ensure a secure homeland. Your people are hardy outdoorsmen, and you are able to use your familiarity with the terrain in order to pursue members of the Royal Expeditionary Force during the night without being noticed.

Each night, you may submit by PM the name of one other living player. You will track that player, and be informed of whether or not he performs a night action, and if so upon whom.

You win when all members of the Royal Expeditionary Force have been defeated, provided at least one Patriot survives.

________________________________________________________________
The year is 1775.

You are
He Who Takes Up the Snow Shoe,
Indian Tracker and Ally of the Continental Army
(Tracker).

You are a warrior of the Oneida nation, and your people, having good relations with the settlers, have decided to fight alongside them in the battle for their freedom.

You are
Benedict Arnold,
Continental Army Turncoat
(Beloved Princess).

You are a proud patriot who has spent vast amounts of his own money, and shown numerous acts of valor, in the service of the Continental army. However, despite your successes, you will be repeatedly passed over for promotion and the subject of repeated smears relating to your personal conduct.

You desire the defeat of the Royal Expeditionary Force, however your loyalty can only be pushed so far. Should the other members of the Continental Army turn on you (if you are lynched during the day) you will instead defect to the British, handing over crucial American battle plans which will allow the Royal Expeditionary Force to outmaneuver the colonials. The in-game effect of this will be to cause two consecutive nights to follow your lynch before the next day phase begins. This does not affect your win condition - you as a player will win with the town, even if your character has gone over to the Crown.

You win when all members of the Royal Expeditionary Force have been defeated, provided at least one Patriot survives.
________________________________________________________________
The year is 1775.

You are
Betsy Ross,
Patriot
(Townie).

The wife of a member of the colonial militia, you are skilled in upholstery and have chosen to support the war effort by repairing uniforms and makings tents for the use of the Continental Army. Later on, you will also play a part in making the first flags of the United States which will go down in history. For now, however, all you have to assist you in furthering the revolutionary cause is your vote, your voice, and your burning sense of national pride.

You win when all members of the Royal Expeditionary Force have been defeated, provided at least one Patriot survives.
________________________________________________________________
The year is 1775.

You are
John Hancock,
Patriot
(Townie).

One of the richest men in the thirteen colonies, you have used your considerable wealth to support your fellow colonists against the crown. You are one of the leading patriotic voices in Massachusetts, and have been chosen to preside over the second Continental Congress. You will go down in history as one of the signatories of the Declaration of Independence. For now, however, all you have to assist you in furthering the revolutionary cause is your vote, your voice, and your burning sense of national pride.

You win when all members of the Royal Expeditionary Force have been defeated, provided at least one Patriot survives.

________________________________________________________________
The year is 1775.

You are
John Adams,
Patriot
(Townie).

A prominent lawyer from New England, you are a champion of republicanism and individual liberty, and a key player in articulating the rhetorical case for the revolution. Should the colonists succeed in their revolt, you will no doubt play a significant role in the governance of the new nation. For now, however, all you have to assist you in furthering the revolutionary cause is your vote, your voice, and your burning sense of national pride.

You win when all members of the Royal Expeditionary Force have been defeated, provided at least one Patriot survives.

Also, since this was quite important:

I did not tell Nero that he would still get a result if the player he targeted was blocked. I told him I couldn't answer that question. Seemed the fairest thing to do, since there weren't actually any roleblocking rules since there wasn't a roleblocker.

Yeah, SSBF/Tammy continued going to MOI because they knew there were town trackers around.

In general, though, if a 'power role' is outed on DAY TWO, and is still alive Day Eight when the only protective role died night one... especially if that 'Power role' is the only thing preventing scum from offing confirmed townies... yeeeeeeeeeeeah.

The other issue with Tammy's claim was, if there was an RB, what were they doing the first two nights? The obvious N1 target was MOI, but he didn't get blocked... and SSBF claimed a result N2. If scum were going to block the 'watcher' why didn't they do it the first night it was outed?
