General Rules

Overall

1.

Unless stated otherwise by the moderator or in these rules, the following control:

2. All votes should be in

bold

either with the [.b] tag or with the [.vote] tag. Unvotes are unnecessary to change your vote.
3.

Put all votes on a new line

If you disregard this rule, I may or may not count the vote.
4. A majority of votes is needed to lynch.
5. This setup uses A Day section and a Post-Day 1 section.
6.1. Failure to get a majority by the end of the game will result in a mafia win.
7. Town may not "No Lynch."
8. I reserve the right to change, add or delete any rule in the game. I reserve the right to modkill or force replace or take any other actions I see as necessary.

Activity

1. Players will be prodded if they do not post for 48 hours. Once a prod goes out, it is in the moderator’s discretion when to replace a player. This game is very short, activity will be required.
2. Players are allowed one V/LA during this game. It may not last more than 48 hours, and it may not come within 72 hours of the game's end.

Moderator Error

The moderator is fallible. If you see a problem with a vote count, mention it in bold in the game. If you have another problem, please don't hesitate to PM the moderator.

Game Specific Rules

Starting Setup and Day 1

This game will last from the start of Day 1 to the end of the game, 14 days.
The setup to start is 14 Town, 2 Mafia Lovers.
Day 1 will work as normal. Majority lynches. If town lynches either of the mafia members, the town wins.

Post Day 1

If town does not lynch a mafia member on Day 1, the mafia will via instant night select one of their members to
Flee
, thus removing from the game. This player cannot be accused.
At this point, every Town member becomes a
Third Party Independent Private Investigator
and will win or lose for themselves.
The lynched townie may make an accusation within 24 hours of his lynch, but may not post again in thread.

(New)
At the end of 14 days from the start of the game, Independent PIs must have submitted via Google Form at least one accusation. The most recent accusation counts.
After the 14 day deadline, the game ends and the accusations are tallied.
If 9 players vote to end the game early, the game will end early. Players will have up to 48 hours but no more than 14 days after the game start to make an accusation. This will be the only vote count.
A Private Investigator who receives more accusations than any other player will not make an accusation and will automatically lose. Any player who receives 5 or more accusations (before accusations under this rule are disregarded) against him will not make an accusation and will automatically lose.
Both mafia players win if the remaining mafia member is not accused by any other player.
A Private Investigator will win if he or she makes an accusation against the remaining mafia player.

Mafia Bribe

(NEW)

The remaining mafia member instead of submitting a accusation submits a bribe. If the mafia member bribes a Private Investigator who in turns accuses the mafia member AND there are no other accusations against the mafia member, the Private Investigator is bribed, causing a win for BOTH that Private Investigator AND the Mafia. The Fleeing Mafia player does not have a bribe to use.

14 Day Deadline

The game will be played in 14 days from when the game is started, including Day 1 and any chat after Day 1.
Players will have 24 hours after the 14 day mark to make an accusation or up to 48 hours after the game is ended early (but not more than they would have had under the 14 day+24 hour scenario).
At the end of the 14 days, the thread will be locked and no further posts may be made.
This game is instant night. If the moderator takes more than 6 hours after the hammer to post the lynch scene, the deadline will be adjusted to increase it by however long the "twilight" period took.
If Day 1 lasts 14 days, then it will deadline with a no lynch, moving immediately to the Post Day 1 phase, and will not allow players to chat with each other.

Sample Role PMs

TownieYou begin as a member of the

Town

. On Day 1, you may vote in order to lynch a player.

On Day 2, if your team did not lynch a Mafia Lover, you will change from a member of the town to a

Third Party Independent Private Investigator

. At the end of 14 days, if a mafia player was not lynched on Day 1, you may accuse one player that is alive.

Note:

If lynched, you retain the ability to make an accusation. However you may NOT post in the game.

You win IF:

1. Town lynches a mafia member Day 1.
2. You accuse the remaining mafia member. HOWEVER, if you receive the most accusations against you or receive 5 or more accusations against you, you will NOT make an accusation and you will automatically lose. A tie will not automatically make you lose or remove your accusation.

If either you or your partner is lynched Day 1, both of you lose.
If neither you nor your partner is lynched Day 1, you must pick one of you to

flee

. You may do this by typing in bold in your Private Thread <b>Flee: PLAYERNAME</b>. This is instant night, so whenever the hammer is thrown, the player you have marked as fleeing will flee. By Default _________ will flee. You may change the fleeing player at any time and as many times as you want up to the Day 1 lynch.

The player who flees will be removed from the game except that he may still chat with you.

You win IF:

1. Neither you nor your partner are lynched Day 1 AND
2. Neither you nor your partner are accused by a

Third Party Independent Private Investigator

(note that the player accused most does not get to make an accusation).

Bribe

Your accusation is actually a bribe. If you bribe a player who in turn accuses you AND that was the only player who accused you, you will still win. The Fleeing Mafia player does not have a bribe to use.

These are subsets of the other. What happens if player A gets 6 votes and player B gets 7 votes? Will player B autoloss only, or both Players A and B?

They are not subsets of the other; they are two independent clauses. If a player has the most accusations on him, he does not make an accusation and automatically loses (so, for example, if he has 4 accusations on him and no other has more than 3, he autoloses and does not make an accusation). If a player has 5 or more accusations against him, he will automatically lose/not make an accusation REGARDLESS of how many accusations are on any other player (though given that there are only 14 accusations in the game, this can be at most 2 people who lose this way).

The reason for this rule is to make it so that no player after the Day 1 lynch goes LOLtroll Jestery as otherwise there would be no consequences for getting accused thus making it harder to continue to scum hunt after the Day 1 lynch.

ACCUSATION FORM

A few notes:

1. hiplop has until Tuesday August 5th at 21:46 pm to make an accusation, but MAY NOT post again in the thread.
2. T-bone may continue to post in the scum thread with his partner, but only his partner may make an accusation (That acts as a bribe)
3. The player who has the most accusations on him or her will not make an accusation and will therefore lose. Additionally, any player that has 5 or more accusations against will also not make an accusation and will automatically lose.
4. To make an accusation use the form. Please enter a code when you first do this, any word or phrase is fine. All your future accusations should use that. You may change your accusations as many times as you want before the game's deadline.
5. If 9 players choose to

No it's not a joint effort between havingfitz and me. Fitz was a term often used to describe an acknowledged illegitimate son. Henry VIII's illegitimate son was Henry Fitzroy, for example. This is similar to A Song of Ice and Fire where each kingdom has their own term for a son born out of wedlock.

In other words, this is a bastard game. In fact, it is the first in a series of FOUR planned bastard games under this title.

Each game will have a different bastard element (or more than one). However, I'm not just doing this to mess with people (a nice side benefit). I'd like to think that each element I use has a purpose. And unlike games like Mindscrew, I will try to avoid Stuff Just Happens.

The first game in this series will be a Mini-Theme, but others will likely be Large Themes.

To the extent you trust me as a mod, I invite you on this journey. If you play in all four FitzOtter games there may be a prize for you at the end -- or maybe I'm just

lying

. Regardless, assuming you are an active participant in good standing in the first game, you will have first dibs on the second.

yeah. theoretically you might have an advantage getting lynched because no one was going to accuse you. Of course that would shorten the time left for scum hunting, but (a) if D1 lasts most of the 14 days it's irrelevant and (b) scum hunting after the D1 lynch is less valuable than before it seems.
