antihero's big reads list

i'm tired of hearing ppl say i don't have reads or they don't know the reasons. they're there. so now there's a centralized place for all of them.
no excuses anymore.

town reads

Cephrir

this is one of my "would bet the game" reads. he makes really good points and they all factor into his reads in really natural ways. it would take me forever to list out EVERYTHING and it's really not that important: for a recent example of this, just look at how he approaches the rr read, Post 1813. i also love this dynamic we have going and it's a LOT more functional and productive than ones we've had where he's been scum. those are usually charaterized by him stepping all over my feet and generally not letting me do ANYTHING without being frustrated.

Spiffeh

solid, solid, SOLID posting. the early focus shifts and fluidity in the reads read really natural to me. and it's hard to fake that kind of thing as scum without making it look like you have an agenda. i think there's flaws w/ his logic here and there (see: read on firebringer), but overall i think it's likely to come from a town pov. he's also in that nice butter zone w/ us: following us when he likes the points we make but not SO much that he's buddy-buddying.

things were pretty rough here w/ us for a while. i thought ns' entrance was pretty shitty and lickety's unusual methods and being really hard to follow wasn't making things better. ok... maybe that was an understatement. his thoughts are bizarre and trying to follow them is like trying to make sense of a fucking acid trip. i'm not saying that in a mean-spirited way though. he kind of reminds of pirate mollie and i love her. she's fun and once you get to know her special brand, she's awesome. i have a feeling lickety's the same way.
anyway, i think he's made plenty of good faith attempts at scumhunting. Post 1149 is a good example, but there are others. the whole "MATT WONT ANSWER MY QUESTIONS" thing isn't a great thing to push, but you see that a lot with relatively new people and i think the unwillingness to let it go under popular pressure is pretty town. re: the whole "contradiction" thing, i don't think it's as bad as matt's thinking it is, especially considering lickety's already shown he has a little trouble w/ keeping chronology and my softer side is taking over here and saying it's an honest mistake on lickety's part.

i had a lot of doubts about this slot at the beginning, but i've since come around to town reading this slot. i may not agree with 100%, or even most, of his analysis but it feels pretty honest and unforced. i also like the dynamic we have going here. it's cooperative and healthy, but not to the point of buddying.

i've seen peregrine be aggressive as scum but i feel like he's pushing BETTER stuff here. i don't care for him needling tth but that might just be protective instincts + it looks well-intentioned enough if that makes any sense. unless anyone feels the need to argue w/ me about this i don't feel like hashing this one out any more since i'm kind of out of steam.

weaker townreads

it's one of the weaker townreads, but it's a townread nonetheless. he hits some good notes in a few places. oddly enough, one of those places is this recent sk speculation. i was actually kind of thinking the same thing myself
i'm afraid of fucking this read up a little since this read feels like a bit more of a stretch but none of his reads or aggression seem forced. tth hasn't picked up on anything here either on the double check so i'm still good w/ this townread.

BotLane (hydra of Ankamius and d3x)

contrary to what seems to be the common wisdom, i don't think the performer vote was a bus because they didn't dress up their votes with any reasons. that's where a lot of the power of bussing comes from: to make yourself look like a strong town player. i also like how ank's aggression's been focused.

pisskop

the refusal to properly catch up and this method of being aggressive about innocuous things is fucking irritating. i don't really see any scummy calculation in his posting. trying to rally the town to a lynch and end the day is something i read as town. his iso is really choppy so i don't really feel like pulling specific quotes but yeah... my overall feeling is town.

Reasonably Rational (hydra of Drixx and Cerberus v666)

their noise: signal ratio is unbelievably high and drixx writes wallposts. which makes this read awful. i kind of flicked my eyeballs at the steven universe game and i see a lot of the same here. there's a TON of defense. in terms of offensive pushes i see the latest monkeyman push which is ... ok-ish. there's also the day 1 firebringer push which is rooted in cerberus theory that i don't agree with.
BUT
i'm town reading this brand of ate and also the show of ego in certain places.

i'm purely reading this slot as town from the claim. to date, i have yet to see scum try to fakeclaim vengeful (and why would they? they're a policy lynch in lylo. it's just not a good scum claim b/c there's really no "getting away" with it. it's just delaying the inevitable.) it would've also taken some pre-planning on vedith's part that i don't think he could do.

that performer vote looks good Post 408. it's not over the top bus-ish. just in general, i like the balance he's struck between figuring out who to trust and working with them and having independent reads of his own.
this townread isn't entirely rational but tth didn't pick up on any red flags on the double check on this read either so i'm good holding onto this one too.

i get what everyone's saying about monkeyman being lynchbait and him apparently living in an alternate logical reality so it's hard to judge and all BUT
i've played w/ scum monkeyman before (kotor). i know that HE knows how to play the game w/ the readslists and i saw a LOT of political maneuvering for towncred in that game. i'm not really picking up on any of that here.
it also helps him that he seems to be my scumreads' pin cushion (i know, associatives before flips, i'm a hypocrite. blah blah blah)

my usual approach to this read is "mastin is town until proven otherwise." things are just more functional that way and thinking mastin was scum when she's not has made rough games in the past (quickness comes to mind).
BUT
this hydra (particularly a couple of vezok's early posts) pinged tth early and i'd be a fool to ignore that.
and if my scumreads actually do end up flipping scum, this'll be the first town read reversed.

I'm not ready to burn down that reads list. The only change I would suggest is move PeregrineV down to the lower tier and let kthnxbye have his spot on the upper tier. Vedith can probably move to the upper tier too.

The weakest points in the reads list I see are: Peregrine, TheWayItEnds, BotLane, and mastin.

if you'd just truthfully claimed i would have gone back and SEEN sc use the role before and kept you in that fucking townlist and told tth to trust my setup spec. sc used a role with the same exact mechanics you're describing in one of his previous games. you would've effectively been a bulletproof ic.

THAT'S SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH WORSE THAN WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED THOUGH. TELLING THE TRUTH IS AWFUL.

i mean... i guess there's nothing to prevent that role from being scum (and i guess that actually could still be) but... that's kind of terrible from a game-design standpoint and i would've stood by that opinion.

Vedith hasn't flipped until StrangerCoug posts it. Making hypothetical reads is a pretty pointless mental exercise right now and making guesses based on non-existent information is bad form.
