If that is accurate I would appreciate someone clarifying because from what I read of the rules only YOU can prevent and others can't.

The only other role is You. That's why it's best to only let one person prevent. If you let multiple people prevent, you're confirming multiple players as a You to the Pyros (which is not their winning target).

So my thought was instead of preventing right away we could just vote who we think is scum and have a discussion. If the person who we deem as scum is a YOU they could talk about who they think is scum and prevent there as well.
This thought is more about hiding Smokey and the Forest from the scum and not letting them be aware who is who with the prevents going crazy.

It's just a thought.

Typically, the idea is to prevent giving off as little information as possible. Scumhunting happens, but not in the way you expect.

The idea of having the preventer volunteer in that game was to prevent Smokey from getting outed on Day 1. It doesn't matter if Smokey gets prevented because if his role is known, the pyros won't target him.
