It’s time for the annual Reaping. Crowds of people gather in every District just to see what poor, unfortunate souls will be forced to kill other innocent kids for the enjoyment of those residing in the Queue. The Peacekeepers are there as usual, keeping an eye on everyone in case someone tries something stupid, though they never do. The Escort for each District comes to their podium to address the crowds. Cameras are everywhere to capture the Reaping for those in the Queue to enjoy. They say their piece, and as always, they play a clip about why they put everyone through this torture, year after year.
In the background you hear President Snow’s voice speaking over the violent images:
“Several years ago, there was an upset in our way of life. Many of the List Mods thought they were unhappy with how they were being treated, said they deserved better than what the Queue was graciously offering them and decided to rebel. They stopped updating their threads, responding to PMs, and were postponing game starts. Their leader, Equinox, orchestrated riots and violent outbursts all over the MafiaScum community. Action had to be taken, and these List Mods were captured and publicly executed.
To protect our community and prevent this from ever happening again, each List Mod must now select Tributes from their districts to participate in the Hunger Games. This serves as a reminder of what the consequences are for questioning the Queue. We will not tolerate rebels.”
This is usually where the video ends and the Escort takes over the ceremony and draws names out of bowls to determine the Tributes for that year. However, it had been announced that for this year’s Quarter Quell, the Tributes would be all of the living Victors from past Games.
The occupants of the Queue sat in their posh homes watching on television as the Victors from Newbie, Central Park, Mayfair Club, New York, Little Italy, Coney Island, and the Theme Park all walked to their stages with grim looks on their faces. The shots cycled through different close ups of the audiences in each District, tears streaming down their faces.
Later, at the training center, the Victors were having a meal together and discussing their anger and disgust with the Queue. Everyone had had enough, and a plan was hatched to sabotage the games. Everyone was on board.
The Game Makers had eyes and ears everywhere, however, and quickly got wind of the plan. They took some of the strongest Victors and hijacked their brains with tracker jacker venom, making them their own Agents before returning them to the center to blend in with the others.
The Rebels, as the Victors started to call themselves, noticed that some of their plans were being sabotaged and quickly realized someone was working against them. It looked as if they were going to have to take out the saboteurs from inside the Arena before taking down the Hunger Games once and for all.
The first day of the Games has arrived. You've been blindfolded and escorted to the prep area underneath the Arena. They take the blindfold off and you step into the tube that will take you above ground while adrenaline pumps through your veins. As you reach the top, you look around and see you're in the middle of a body of water. The breeze blows gently in your hair and you smell salt in the air. The MafiaScum logo appears in the sky and a Game Makers voice booms.
"Victors! Welcome to the Quarter Quell! Prepare yourselves, as the countdown will begin momentarily. May the odds be ever in your favor!"
There is a brief countdown and the loud gong sounds. The Hunger Games have begun!
