I think there's nothing much to it but how the playerlist is feeling at the point they have to push. If I had to choose my alignment today, I would be choosing third party. If I chose after a two weeks break, I would choose scum... I know that's only me, but I think that's a common trait for anyone here: sometimes you feel like catching scum, sometimes you feel like decieving everyone.

I had crappy crads for the most part: tentacled townie and alpha goon, mason doc was the only decent one and had to be aligned with town. That made the choice easy. I also didn’t know your discards get outted.

People who are asking for a sequel, what are your thoughts on rolling and having players choose cards for 5 different setups. Use the most playable one as determined by game mod?

What if there is a minimum # of total [mafia/werewolf/alien/SK], with at least 2 being the same alignment? Like 4/15 for example with at least 1 pair in a 15p. That way the mod doesn't have to be responsible for deciding which of multiple setups is more playable. I agree that it would feel better modding something like this to know it's at least semi-balanced, but I'd be worried about undue amounts of mod influence if it's more than a pass/fail decision.

That said, I wouldn't object to the 3 parallel draws idea. Maybe make the criteria more straightforward than a subjective "best", like choose the game with the closest-to-ideal faction balance without looking at roles.
