General Rules
  1. All site-wide rules apply. In particular,

  2. All standard rules of Mafia apply. This means:
    1. Do not quote your Role PM or any other PMs from the Mod, real or fabricated.
    2. Play to your win condition.
    3. Do not edit or delete your post, even if you have the ability to do so.
    4. Do not use encrypted text, small text, bright-coloured text, or otherwise make it hard to see what you are writing.
    5. Do not use provable randomness. This means no dice tags.
    6. Do not quote from any PTs you have access to into the main thread or other PTs
    7. Do not discuss this game outside this thread or PTs related to this game you have access to.
  3. The mod color is
    blue (#0000FF)
    . Do not use it.
  4. Once your death scene is posted, you may not post, except for a single contentless ‘bah' post.
  5. Due to the nature of Mafia, conflicts are expected, but if I deem an argument too heated up I will intervene.
  6. No set of rules can be complete. If you think something is wrong, please don't do it. Breaking the spirit of rules is also disallowed. Do not encourage others to break the rules either. If in doubt, please ask me.
  7. Breaching of rules will usually result in a warning initially, but depending on severity, may result in a force-replacement or modkill.
  8. During the course of the game I may add extra rules if necessary. These rule changes will be announced publicly.

Deadlines, Activity, and replacements
  1. Day start. Days will last 10 days, Nights will last 48 hours.
  2. Prods will be issued if you do not post 48 hours.
  3. If you are prodded with three or more prods already, or fail to respond to a prod by posting in thread within 24 hours (or by PM if at Night), I will begin seeking for a replacement.
  4. For replacement purposes, one prod will be removed for every Day without a prod.
  5. Once a Power is selected, the deadline is set to 7 days.
  6. Some powers will cause the game to have Commercial Breaks. These will last for 24 hours each (unless otherwise stated), and the deadline will be paused during that time. If less than 3 days remain after a commercial break, the deadline will be reset to 3 days.
  7. If you expect to be unable to post for a while, please declare V/LA in thread. Should your V/LA be unreasonably long (>5 days), however, I strongly suggest you request replacement.
  8. You will still be prodded while on V/LA, but these will not count towards the above three prod limit. An official prod will be sent 24 hours after your V/LA ends if you haven't posted then.
  9. If a replacement happens at Night, deadline will be paused until a replacement is found.

Voting Rules
  1. To vote, use vote tags (VOTE: Lynch/VOTE: BulletNLynchproof). Bold tags (

  2. Abbreviations or misspellings in votes will be accepted as long as it is clear what/who you are voting for.

  4. Unvote with UNVOTE: BulletNLynchproof, or less preferably,

  5. Votes in quotes or spoiler tags will not be counted.
  6. When choosing powers, a strict majority (more than 50%) of the votes are necessary to select a power
  7. Once majority is achieved, power selection is locked in and any further votes or unvotes are invalid.
  8. If you do not wish to use a power on a Day, you may indicate so with VOTE: End Day
  9. If a power is not selected by deadline, no power will be selected and the game will immediately go into Night.
  10. The Mafia have daytalk.

Setup-specific Rules
  1. There are two factions in this game, Town and Mafia.
  2. It is known that there are 4 Mafia aligned players and 13 Town aligned players in the game.
  3. The Mafia win condition is: control 50% of the votes.
  4. Powers in this game replace standard lynching.
  5. A list of Powers is listed in .
  6. Each Power causes the rest of the Day/Night to continue in a different manner specific to the Power.
  7. One Power is selected per Day.
  8. The Mafia can kill every Night, unless otherwise specified by the chosen Power.

PowersPowers in this game replace normal lynching. These powers give you different ways to eliminate and/or investigate players.
Each Power can be used only once, except for Lynch, which may be used any number of times.
A Power must be chosen before 10 days pass; otherwise, the power Lynch will be used by default.
A Power takes immediate effect upon being chosen; if players can vote immediately afterwards, players can do so without mod acknowledgement.

These are the powers in more detail:
Spoiler: Lynch
Choose by majority vote a player. That player is eliminated from the game.

Spoiler: 1of4
The game will have a commercial break, in which the Mafia choose 4 players, at least one of which must be Mafia aligned. Town must choose by majority vote a player from this 4 player group, who will be eliminated from the game.

Spoiler: 8-ball
The game will have a commercial break, in which the Mafia choose a player to be the 8-ball, which is not publicly announced. Town must choose to eliminate a player by majority vote. If the 8-ball is lynched, it is revealed as such, and the Mafia get an extra nightkill that Night (for a total of 2 kills). Otherwise, the Mafia may not kill.

Spoiler: Arena
The game will have two commercial breaks back-to-back:
During the first commercial break, the Mafia must choose a player to be the gladiator, who will be publically announced.
During the second commercial break, the gladiator must challenge a group of two other players. This group will be publically announced.

Town must choose by majority vote to eliminate the challenger, the challenged group of players, or no one.

Spoiler: Call a Friend
Selectable only with at least one dead town player.

Town first choose by majority vote a dead town player. There will be a 24 hour commercial break for that town player to write a message of any length, which will be posted in thread. After that, town chooses a player by majority vote, who will be eliminated from the game.

Spoiler: Coalition
Selectable only with less than 3 Mafia dead.
Town by majority vote choose a majority group of players (half living players rounded down plus one, equal to power selection threshold) in the game. If all chosen players are town, town immediately win. Otherwise, the game continues into Night phase with no deaths, and the Mafia cannot kill that Night.

Spoiler: Dance
Selectable only with an even number of players alive.
The game will have a 48 hour commercial break, in which the Mafia must pair all living players. The pairs will be announced, and town must choose a pair by majority vote. Both players in that pair will be eliminated from the game. The Mafia cannot kill after this power.

Spoiler: Popcorn
The game moves immediately into Night phase, where the Mafia must choose a player to poison. After this, the game moves into a round of Popcorn voting: The poisoned player must vote a player and appoint another player to go next. This chosen player follows the same procedure by voting a player and appointing a player who has not yet voted to go next. This continues the last player who has not voted yet is selected, who will not choose a player to go next.

After this, the player who has the most votes will be eliminated. If there is a tie, the player who got to that number of votes first is eliminated. The poisoned player will also be killed after this.

Spoiler: Protect
Choose by majority vote a player to make immune to one nightkill for the rest of the game. This immunity will fail if the player is non-Vanilla or has been targeted with the Reveal power. The Mafia may not kill after this.

Spoiler: Quiz
Selectable only with an odd number of players alive.
There will be a 24 commercial break after this, in which the Mafia must choose a player, who will be publicly revealed. After this, the thread will be reopened, and players can choose by majority vote to eliminate someone. Players also must submit a guess as to whether that player is town-aligned or Mafia-aligned within 72 hours.
Once 72 hours pass, all the players' guesses as well as the chosen player's alignment are revealed. If the majority guess is correct, the Mafia cannot kill that Night. In addition, that quizzed player is given a 1-shot bulletproof if they're town, or they die if they're Mafia-aligned.
However, if the guess is wrong, the day immediately ends without any players eliminated, and the Mafia may kill two players that Night, and an additional player (for a total of three kills) if that player was Mafia-aligned.

Spoiler: Rank
Choose by majority vote a group of two players. During that Night, the Mafia, in addition to submitting the kill, must produce an ordered list of those players such that any Mafia aligned players appear above any town aligned players in that list.

Spoiler: Reveal
Choose by majority vote a player. That player’s alignment will be revealed, and will be immune from kills that Night.

Spoiler: Treestump
Choose by majority vote a player. That player will no longer be able to vote, but may still continue to post in the thread.

Spoiler: Vengeful
Choose by majority vote a player to eliminate from the game. That player can choose another player to eliminate from the game. Mafia cannot kill after this power.

Spoiler: Veto
Choose by majority vote a group of four players. The Mafia must strongman kill two players from the selected group that Night.



Some Power clarifications:

Lynch:

If a majority is not reached by deadline, no player will be eliminated and the power is forfeited

1of4:

If a majority is not reached by deadline, the player with the most votes will be eliminated. If multiple players are tied for most votes, the player who most recently had the most votes among those tied will be eliminated.

8-ball:

If a majority is not reached by deadline, no player will be eliminated, and the Mafia will get 2 kills that Night.

Arena:

If the gladiator does not reply by the deadline, they would be replaced, and deadline for the second commercial break will be reset to 24 hours.
If a group is not selected by deadline, no player would be eliminated and the game will go into Night.

Call a Friend:

If the elected player does not submit by deadline, other players in the dead thread may submit the message on their behalf.
If a dead townie is not chosen by deadline, or a player is not chosen by deadline, no player will be eliminated and the game will proceed into Night phase.

Coalition:

Vote for players in this manner: VOTE: A, B, ... , X. Votes will be considered the same if they are on the same set of players, regardless of the order. If the vote is on a wrong number of players, the vote will be moved to Not Voting.
If a majority group is not selected by deadline, the power is forfeited and the game will proceed into Night phase.

Dance:

Pairs will be announced publicly. Votes on either player of a pair will be considered identical; i.e. if Alice and Bob are announced to be partners, VOTE: Alice, VOTE: Bob and VOTE: Alice/Bob are all accepted as votes on Alice/Bob.

If a majority is not reached by deadline, no player is eliminated and the game will proceed into Night phase.

Popcorn:

Each player’s post during this phase must be of the following format:
VOTE: Player
Next: Player
Posting content is not allowed at this point.

Whenever this power is chosen, the original deadline has no effect and is replaced by the following activity rules: As soon as I can, I will send a PM when it is a player’s turn. That player has 24 hours to post following the PM, or I will seek a replacement.

If a Protected player is poisoned with their 1-shot immunity still intact, they will not die at the end of the Night phase.

Both the eliminated player and the poisoned player are considered to be eliminated at the same time, so if a Mafia-aligned player and a Town-aligned player were to be eliminated due to this power with only one more Townie than Mafia, it is not considered an immediate Mafia victory and the game carries on.

Protect:

If a majority is not achieved by deadline, the power is forfeited and no player will be protected.

Quiz:

To guess, players privately mesaage the mod with
Guess: Town
or
Guess: Mafia
. Retracting guesses is not possible once made.
If a majority vote to eliminate someone is achieved before the 72 hour mark, that player is eliminated and the power is void; the alignment of the chosen player is not revealed and it does not process as a correct/incorrect guess.
If a majority vote is not achieved by deadline, no player will be eliminated.

Rank:

If a majority is not achieved by deadline, the power is forfeited and there will be no investigation.
The Mafia is free to kill any of the selected players that Night. If both selected players are of the same alignment, they may be ordered in any way the Mafia like.

Reveal:

If a majority is not achieved by deadline, the power is forfeited and there will be no investigation.

Treestump:

If a majority is not achieved by deadline, the power is forfeited and no player will be eliminated.

Vengeful:

If a majority is not achieved by deadline, the power is forfeited, and the Mafia may kill that Night.
If a town player is eliminated and the Mafia control 50% of the votes, the Mafia immediately win and the eliminated townie does not get a vengekill.

Veto:

Because the kills are strongman kills, the Mafia may choose to target a Protected player and kill them in one shot.
If a majority is not achieved by deadline, the power is forfeited, and the Mafia get two strongman kills on any living player.
Kills are resolved at the same time, so if a Townie and a Mafia die at the same time due to this power with only one more Townie than Mafia, it is not an immediate Mafia victory.

Speed select this please: it's at its most useful when scum have no way of predicting the lynch and scum have no information to predict the lynch right now.

I had a bunch of other thoughts on ability usage but 8ball needs to be locked in before we do anything else.
2019 stats: Town WR 76.7%, overall WR 81.667%, 1 scum defeat involving a major mod error in lylo vs 8 scum wins.

For example, we use an ability like Venge/Protect/Dance that can and does take away Mafia's ability to kill - would powers that involve a Mafia kill be forfeited? ((Ex. 8-Ball/Veto/Rank))


I want Mafia's killing ability to go away ASAP, but I'd like this clarified before I definitively cast a vote.

oh youre probably confused by "mafia cant kill after this power"

this doesnt mean mafia cant kill for the rest of the game

it just means they cant kill on the night right after we use that power

Each power lasts for only one Day. 8-ball, Veto or Rank can still be used after Vengeful, Protect or Dance.
