Grand Idea Mafia is a randomly rolled semi-open setup drawn from a collaboratively created set of roles.
Grandiose Idea Mafia
is a variant of Grand Idea Mafia (inspired by Multiple Personality Mafia) in which your role changes on a set schedule amongst 4 different Grand Idea Mafia roles.Role schedule?

This player wins with the Town and none of their roles modify the base town win condition. They would only have an active ability on Nights taking place between the 45 minute mark and the 0 minute mark, and would only have the passive ability associated with the Flying Townie role at the appropriate time.

How do win conditions work?
- The majority of players at the start of the game will be aligned with the Town.
- Anyone aligned with a Town, Mafia, Werewolf, Alien, UrScum, Cult, Underdog, or Spook faction will have that win condition regardless of their current role.
- If one undergoes an alignment change to or from one of the above faction, that change will also apply across the board. (e.g. cult recruitment, being lynched as Judas, being sympathetic to the aliens, etc.)
- If you're a part-time usurper or otherwise have an additional requirement added on to one of the above wincons, you both can only fulfill it and can only be expected to fulfill it while you currently embody the associated role.
- The Survivor, Serial Killer, Lyncher, Unlyncher, Jester and most other third party wincons may be mixed and matched across a role schedule. A player with any combination of these, generally, wins if they complete their win condition as the particular role the wincon is associated with.
- It is not feasible to cover every possible wincon and wincon interaction. Ask about special cases if necessary.
How exactly do roles work?
- This particular setup was rolled on June 26, 2016 and thus uses roles #0-#2426 and may not reflect recent edits.
- Roles that will make the game unreasonably unfun for anyone involved, including the mod, are banned. You may get some level of mod clarification on this, but I reserve the right to not answer angleshoot-y questions.
- Players may not use factional kills or other such factional "actives" in the same night as another ability unless otherwise specified by their role.
- I will indicate in thread if and when a player is completely barred from posting for role-related reasons.
- Role-related private communication with other players is restricted to when one's current role allows. e.g. neighbors may only have access to the neighbor PT when they're specifically a neighbor. However, day talk is permitted by default (even tho ain't nobody got time for that.)
- In typical Greater Idea fashion, anyone who begins the game as a Lover, Neighbor, Mason, Monk, etc. will be grouped with anyone else who is even if it's not "in phase" as per Grandiose Idea mechanics, though private communication is restricted as per above.
- All players that are not aligned with the town will receive a randomized fakeclaim schedule and fake role PMs and are advised to use them with caution. Anyone that asks for a particular fake role PM will be provided with it, within reason. (Though, like, if you ask me during the game it's not exactly my highest priority lmao).
What other rules are there?
- 25 minute Days; 5 minute night action submission period; couple of more minutes for resolution. Queue future actions if you need to.
- A player (or no lynch) is lynched if they receive the majority of votes. At deadline, the person with the most votes will be lynched (plurality) even if no one has reached majority. In the case of a tie, dice tags will decide.
- Play to win and with integrity.
How can you reasonably expect to this to work at this speed?
Lots of prep work on my part, and hope for forgiveness. Plus I feel like a game that is so silly, swingy, and centered on a time-related mechanic will be fun in "real time". Strategic quicklynches gogogo?
