As far as the "wound up with the bad guys", it's war and intel. Shit happens off-screen. Just like how the death star plans ended up in rebel hands at the start of Episode IV which took 30 years to get a backstory for.

And there are 2 major problems with people complaining about the Holdo Maneuver.

1) They presuppose that if a military tactic has been completed successfully, everyone must have always known that was always a possibility in all the times previous and LOLYDIDNTTHEYDOTHATEARLIER, which is, you know, not how anything works in the history of human anything ever. Why didn't Mozart rip wicked ass guitar solos with whammy pedals and sick LFO drops on the harp?

2) It's not an effective technique moving forward, at the very least not for the Rebels. Hyperdrives are expensive, and they're basically out of ships. It can be argued that the First Order could pull off these tricks but you still need right time and setting; the destroyer that Holdo crashed into was busy shooting at the escaping vessels instead of moving. So you need a very large object to crash into another very large object while the second object is also very distracted and thus unable to maneuver out of the path of destruction.

This doesn't really change much of anything moving forward irt space battles. Go complain about other things that are ridiculously more... ridiculous. Like gravity in space. Or dead people flying in the vacuum of space and oh she's also alive and also now in a coma because all of that adds up god I fucking hate that scene.

I do understand this however it had the opposite effect for me. I have no idea what's going to happen in the final installment and that excites me.

I don't understand why everyone thinks Rey's parents are confirmed nobodies. Snoke set up the link between Kylo and Rey to confuse Rey and turn her. Everything in the vision has to be taken with a grain of salt as a trick. Her parents are not confirmed yet.

I think the point is that the PT and OT established that your parental lineage is an extremely important thing. Society has sort of implicated that if you are adopted or orphaned you shouldn't care who your biological parents are and that what you have should be enough, but Star Wars has created a strong counterargument to this through Luke and Anakins stories. Rey's story is currently not resolved so I don't think you can argue that the resolution is unfufilling.

Anakin's parents were nobodies, but this is definitely a Skywalker saga so it can go either way with Rey

Frankly I don't care one lick either way and it'll resolve however it resolves. I don't think it's unfulfilling, I'm just pointing out that your gun claim is weak at best considering an unfinished story.

I think the Star Wars universe is theoretically large enough to operate without anything more than passing references to the Skywalker lineage and the events of Episodes 1-9
