One of my favourite lines of dialogue was the one between Jon and Tyrion, when he was talking about "My brother has a whetstone to sharpen his sword, but I use a book to sharpen my mind?"
Or something like that.
Sansa and Catelyn are fucking shit.

I think Catelyn in the series is just as irritating as Catelyn in the book.
I'm re-reading AFFC atm. I disliked it first time around, but I'm getting more into it atm.

I'm about 75% of the way through AFFC. Might have to speed-read the rest, since it's a re read anyway.
I love Jaime and Cersei's POV chapters.

Why the fuck are they changing Asha's name? The official line is that "they don't want people to confuse Asha with Osha."
Osha is a fucking wildling, and is played by Tonks from Harry Potter.
Asha isn't.

What, the onion knight Davos Seaworth? He was in the episode with Stannis, and was wearing his bag around his neck.
The episode was good, with a distinct lack of
Renly and Arya (I know Arya was in the last two seconds, but even so)
The opening scenes with Tyrion just reinforced how well I think Peter Dinklage captures him, and most of the casting is, imo, fairly spot on still.

Yeah, Jon becomes one of the most interesting characters by far.
Tyrion is fucking awesome, and I love all the little things about him. I also think Jaime's arrogance despite being caught was pretty good. Joffrey plays the bastard so well, and Cersei is brilliant as power-bitch.
Catelyn really annoys me.

Jamie's is more drastic, I guess, but I think a lot of Jamie's change had already happened and the reader is just clued in.
I agree with Reck that the Stannis scene was super duper confusing for anyone who hasn't read the books.
Jaime.
The Stannis scenes in general were a bit weird - it doesn't really explain who Davos was, it barely explains who Melisandre was/what she was doing, but I feel they captured Stannis' lack of personality or anything else fairly well.

I think all the actors were brilliant last night.
Cersei was fantastic, she was properly unhinged.
Sansa was really good, as was Sandor and Tyrion.
The scene where Joffrey is trying to decide to leave to the Red Keep or not was really good, I felt quite sympathetic towards him as after all he is still just a boy, and the worry and fear he was feeling was really well conveyed.

Show!Sansa is much better than book!Sansa. Hell of a lot less whiny.
Tyrion and Arya are my favourite characters, and have been since the start.
Bitching about what has happened and how it may affect future episodes is dumb and you should stop it, because there is a good chance that the TV producers have already figured it out, so whining how it might change things without actually knowing how much has changed/whether it will have changed for the better/worse is just annoying.
Do you really think that they won't find someone else to finger Dany whilst she's feeling sexually frustrated? This is HBO, King of unnecessary sex scenes. Likewise, I'm sure they'll add another character to try and marry Dany off too.
Basically, settle down and wait.

Also didn't we have a general ASOIAF thread anyway?
I rewatched Season 1 yesterday, in preparation for tonight, and it didn't seem as good as it did the first time. It was a good season, yeah, but it spent so long setting stuff up, it felt like it dragged. I enjoy it, but it isn't something you can rewatch over and over.

I was also reading elsewhere that the whole point of the Tyrells' existence is to undermine the Lannisters, so by having Margaery be seen as kind and generous, whilst Joffrey is a little shit, it just continues to reinforce that point, I guess.

Holy shit that was amazing. Even better than I had hoped.
Catelyn's scream of anguish.
It was so brutal. Genuinely shocked at how brutal it was.
I don't even care about the changes - the line towards Robb was a callback to Jaime's line as he left Roose - it was changed then so the continuity is fine. The lack of Jinglebell also makes sense - they'd have to have wasted time making us think that Frey cares about the jester, whereas it is assumed he would care about his wife.
Trans rights are human rights.

It's talking about how we've gone from one eunuch being important (Varys), to over 8000 (the Unsullied).
