I guess for the sake of clarity, is there a line between "I'd prefer people not be gay/gay-married, because god" and " I hate gays"?

i personally think no, they generally refer to old testament tinfoil hat stuff. ive asked many homophobic christians (n>12) about stuff like giving your firstborn son everything when you die and they just dismiss it with something along the lines of "if a man lays with another man he must be stoned it says it in the bible"

Has it ever occurred to you that Catholics are not the same as those people and in fact do not actually believe those things

idk where catholics got into the mix but they are pretty interesting with all of their different rituals. a catholic mass feels way more pagan than a generic protestant non-denominational service
