I always forget, but I keep a Shazam library of potential songs for this thing and I'm pulling from it this time around! It's a bit of a departure in usual entry for me,so I hope you guys enjoy it!

In better news, the super playlist is pretty much done, but there is one thing I'd like some feedback with now. All while creating the playlist I've replaced one of the the actual entries with a song off of the same album that I like more. Should I keep it the way it is now, or put the original entry back in?

Would still like some input on this, but other than that I'm ready to go.

I get worried every time I submit the ballot for these because I know I will regret a song's placement or that I didn't represent a song properly or that there's a dissonance between my write-up and my vote.

It is by no means easy, but it is part of the fun in some ways.

Germany: Ricardo Autobahn - Panophobia (Part 2)

This is some nice techno beat! I really enjoyed it and would listen to it again. Funky and kept my attention the entire piece.
It has a really cool 90s sci-fi sound to it if that makes any sense lol

Djibouti: Code Orange - Swallowing the Rabbit While

Big noise yelling screeching LOOOOOOUD!!!!

I will never understand the appeal.

Ohey it me!
Yes, this is a little more mainstream but I think it worthy here. I kept forgetting the title of this song but every time it came on the radio I'd instinctively shazam it because it's just a great piece! I really like the emotion it presents and there's a quality to the song that instills an energy when listening to it.

Egypt: The Dirty Nil - That's What Heaven Feels Like

Oh my god it's The Dirty Nil! :O
I went to school with these guys! Like one of the band members was an off campus rep with me! How cool!
Fun fact: They won our University's Battle of the Bands in 2010!
It's still a bit different from my normal genres, a lot harder I suppose that my preferred musics. But awesome to see them here!

Is this an anime opening song? It sure as heck feels like one!

As the song progressed I realized it's more of a video game song for one of those really active levels. Intensely running!

I will still never understand this. Is he trying to be the dying bird? Wtf.
Oh god it's 9 minutes too. I skipped to the 3 minute mark and it's alright I guess. Still just feels loud and unnecessary.
At 5:30 there was a nice bit for 30 seconds where it was just the chords and I like when songs deconstruct to just the chords. This makes up for nothing, however.
Ohey it does the same thing at 8 minutes in to end the song in a decent fashion. Maybe to trick people into listening to it again

Belarus: Wax Fang - Majestic

This is exactly what I needed after that last piece.
Oh! his vocals startled me!
I really like this. His vocals go well with the light music underneath, the guitar is well used, and the opening/closing are definitely majestic!

Lmao this is awesome XD Really trying to push that envelope on "what is too ridiculous to score points" eh? XD
You had me intrigued at Norwegian Reggaeton. I did not expect it to be borderline Despacito complete with dance moves and Spanish vocals! XD XD
WAIT Is he supposed to be Pitbull!? Because this is a great pitbull knock off!
Oh, and they use Zombie in there for good measure! Nice!

Cote d'Ivoire: Superfly - Kakusei

This is cool! I like most of it, though again I find the intensity of the guitar to be excessive.
I really like the change in time signatures in the chorus though (I'm pretty sure that's what they're doing to achieve this effect). That is underused and gives a really cool disorientation effect, which seems to be a theme throughout the piece.

Portugal: Jenny Owen Youngs - Dreaming on the Bus

Back before I got boring and beainwashed by the top pop charts this is exactly the kind of thing I'd search out!
It's nice, it's got a story to it, and it's in a nice space between too soft and too intense where it 's just...nice.

Finland: Nanne Grönvall - Håll om mig

This is pretty good. I liked the feel and the vocals are very powerful without being overwhelming. Feels kinda like it should be in a video game too actually.

Greenland: Porter Robinson - Goodbye To A World

This is awesome! It starts off very much pulling you into the world, and then it begins to deconstruct it. Really cool.

Poland: Fiona Apple - Fetch the Bolt Cutters

This feels like it's a Quarantine song.

Oh, and now they're reaching for the bolt cutters trying to get out XD Fitting!
It's nice I guess. I like what they did here. But I don't think it hit enough boxes musically for me tbh. Maybe I'm being closed minded tho. It'd be an interesting piece to dissect.
Good thematically though.
Is the last minute of domestic animals part of the song or...?

Syria: Big Bear - Track 01

I appreciate that people appreciate this stuff but I simply can't.

Sierra Leone: Daoko - Daisuki

I don't know that the dubsteb breakdown was a good choice here. I liked the pop bits though.
Like I'm sure they're getting at something with the disjointedness there but it just feels like they missed the mark. She raps really well though!
It kinda makes me think of a Poppy song and I'm not sure which one so I might go down that rabbit hole at some point

The Netherlands: Imagine Dragons - Thunder

You know, I often forget Imagine Dragons are real. And when I do, this is never how I remember them.
It's alright, I like their use of the 3 bangs throughout and the way the video captures it with the three faces in the part where it lacks the noise is cool.
Average song, not much to say tbh.

My top 2 were tough to choose between so I made a decision, and so be it. This contest had some good stuff in it!

Also the first time in a long while where DEB hasn't been ice cold.
