Yeah, I don't really mind that. If I do come, though, I'd prefer for it to be for most of the duration, though. Are many people going to be staying for most of it, or are they just coming for a week or so?

And, I *guess* I can pay for your ticket Alky. Does mean I have to pay for air fare over to america to give you it as well, though. And your bus fare to the airport to come and pick it up from me. You might have to give me a while.

should be 6-13 January 2010, with the week prior (~30th-5th) optional for all, and the week after (14st-21st) optional by special arrangement.

Any further opinions? Locking it in in 5 days....

Been looking around, New Zealand is pretty dreamy.

Tempted to have a post-event wander around some beauty areas if I can get it sorted.

What I was looking at:

JAN - SEA, Dec. 18 or so
SEA - PMR, Dec. 29 or so
PMR - SEA, Jan. 9, or so
SEA - JAN, Jan. 11, or so

In other words, two round trips (once to Seattle, once from Seattle).

Classes finish for me on December 15 and start again on January 13.

Right now, the three cheapest SEA - PMR flights I have found around my schedule are:

1.)

Dec. 29 - Jan. 8 @ $2,242

2.)

Dec. 27 - Jan. 8 @ $2,242

3.)

Dec. 27 - Jan. 9 @ $2,242

Other things seem to jump to about $2,375. So much monies!

You've probably looked at this, but going to auckland instead of PMR shaved a lot off the the price for me, and once you're in the country, getting around is a comparatively small problem.

Now we need to work out (with you and Primate arriving in Auckland within a day of each other) whether I come and pick you both up, or what. Slight complication is that Groza is arriving in PN on the 31st. (he flies via Auckland too though).

I may have been a tad strict in my interpretation of 31st of dec. I actually get in at 11:40pm on the 31st.

We should get an aim chat going to sort this out, better than round robin pming.

I'm currently thinking the best plan might be if I come to Auckland... pick up PJ on the 30th, kidnap Groza before he can board his flight to P.N. on the 31st, celebrate New Years somewhere in Auckland then immediately go to airport to pick up Primate. Then drive back to P.N. either that night or next day.

If people like that idea I'll email my cousin who lives up in Auckland and see if she knows any empty houses or available accommodation at that time.

Thats fine, although I will probably have been awake for around 24 hours at that point, and probably a little drunk due to spending 12 hours overnight in singapore, so I wouldn't be expecting me to do anything other than fall over in the designated position.

Waitomo sounds good, be well up for that. I'd love a wander around the geysers at Whakamolerewarewa, but I feel kind of similarly to PJ on the whole natives/native lifestyle issue, though I'd be willing to give it a go. Wai-O-Tapu looks stunning.

If it's easier for you, I don't mind shacking up in an airport hotel for the night and meeting you on the morning of the first. If my flights delayed, you've lost the night, really, and considering you'll have to be leaving to meet me anyway, you lose a fair chunk of new year. Yeah, though, I don't mind waiting around at the airport for a couple of hours.
