Overview
On Sunday, dear user FakeGod messaged me in chat with a proposition: could you run a poll to deduce the year with the best new scummers? I thought this was a lovely idea, but not without its fair share of issues, the foremost being how does one show which scummers joined in which year? We discussed using the post totals available in the “Members” tab, but those don't count non-game posts and are thus honestly horribly inaccurate for our needs! For example, I only have 783 in-game posts, which is one-tenth of my posts site-wide! Thus, it seems easier to make it an informal participate-at-your-own-discretion sort of deal. This way, we'll get a glimpse of the active users as well as the users that mattered to the community.
Stage 1: /in (aka Campaign!)
So instead of giving examples for why one should rank a year higher or lower, we're passing that responsibility to the users themselves! By posting in this thread, I'll record the year in your join date and thus you'll be part of the reason why someone likes that particular year! So for example, FakeGod and I represent 2010! In addition, you can also post other scummers as examples, but with a twist: the examples can only be from other years to count. Hopefully this will help to make it a more fun competition, as the userbase itself picks out and pinpoints the reasons that certain years brought great users into the MafiaScum community!
Stage 2: 1-14 (aka Vote!)
Once a week has passed and we have a decent bit of representation for each year, I'll post a poll allowing y'all to rank the 14 years of MafiaScum (2002 to 2015) from 1 to 14, where 1 is the BEST year and 14 is the WORST year for joining users. You'll also have an opportunity to comment as to why a year was notable for you, and who made it worth ranking high (positive comments please!). It's as simple as that! The poll will remain open for a week, after which I'll tabulate the results!
Stage 3: Awards Ceremony (aka Watch!)
To reveal, I'll reveal around four years a day. The year will have a rank, it's average rank among all voters, and some of the comments that accompanied that year. In the end we'll see which year holds up as the favorite year for joining scummers!
So start posting, campaigning, and discussing below. I think this'll be an interesting glimpse into the MafiaScum community!
