all 26
important note though that "For the Glory of Olde Virginia" was uploaded out of youtube but I found a mirror on the band's channel; you should probably listen to the entered version

found 'oh no 2' mediocre
it may be a good work of art but i can't give points to music that i can't enjoy more fundamentally than that

red jumpsuit apparatus song sounds overly sentimental, lacks subtlety, no clear innovation deviant from what already comes up or has come up on the radio
the flaws remind me of "A Great Big World", except with lighter production and of course greater rock influences

wow i just noticed that they literally have "great big world" in their lyrics
to me that confirms my opinion

i'm glad i waited through 1:36 for For the Glory of Olde Virginia
probably the best song with a lot of screaming i've heard i spose
but it seems this distinction is only achieved through conformity to rock conventions i'm already too acquainted with to not be bored by
i think i like it more than everything else i've posted about so far
has me reassured that the whole screaming thing can work in music

Kinda hoped for more from Conceptual Romance. I don't like it much after this first listen, but it's interesting enough that I'll check in again sometime before voting (supposing I do that).

i remember "They Reminisce Over You" from a street basketball video game I enjoyed. It's nice to be reminded of it, though it's not at all as good as I remember. Maybe it's because the video game mostly focused on the instrumental and not the not-quite-stunning vocals.

kinda indulgent to submit a 9 minute song nicaragua

it's a pretty good song though
not flawless; it does take too long and doesn't many different places along the way
i imagine i'd have enjoyed it more if i understood the lyrics
vocals though are beautiful and the instrumentals, if not quite innovative, are interesting, especially with their juxtaposition to japanese vocals
the song wasn't what i expected at all and is probably the best so far

Maze in the Sun is the generic pop they put in the background of video game highlight videos
i'd have given it points anyway if i'd enjoyed it but it's just not doing it for me

I'm Comin' Home is good. Does a thing that's been done I spose, but reasonably well and in its own way. Actually enjoyable, unlike much of what I've listened to so far. Gruff dude's got a falsetto!

I like the HunterxHunter thing, despite my previous criticism of an anime song. It's just - actually good, on its own. Still, it IS a sound I've heard before at the end of lots of animes. It's cliched. But the song somehow gets past that in a way I don't think the other does. Too bad it doesn't come with english lyrics.

Red Flag has a derivative structure/instrumental (classic 'adult contemporary rock') but is done well. I like it. The vocals are good and even convincing. I'll listen to it again sometime. It probably gets points.

Megumi Hayashibara is interesting and good. Is every song in this contest gonna be in a language I can't understand?

ok my reviews are falling in depthiness or whatever it is i was going for so i'll take a break
quicktakes on the rest:
photosynthesis - good but maybe not great i need to look closer at the lyrics
moby - yes, i guess; i dont love it but it clearly has value. I don't think I'd deliberately listen to it again but yes. It feels...generic adult contemporary
stronger - i have to give this a low score sorry it's very typical of the genre and i also don't like the genre. low-end fall out boy + screamy metal
Ghost Ship in a Storm - im sry for what happened to your dog
bubble wrap - meh. at least listenable.
Einstürzende Neubauten - it started out sounding like the Yeah Yeah Yeah's Mosquito and I was all about that. But it stayed at the moment for far longer than I was willing to wait to find out. I have one question for the person who submitted this: How dare you?
Already knew I liked Glass Animals.
Shulman - wtf is wrong with you guys this song is 11 minutes long since when is this ok. i'm not waiting that long to find out if this song gets good.
Poem - sure sounds like 2005
Christ Conscious is well-executed but doesn't really stand out as a rap song in its production, lyrical content or anything I can think of.
Redemption sounds like all the other metal songs I heard in this contest, with a gruffer voice, less screaming.
You Walk Away is listenable, I spose. The video is
not
helping its case.
Voices - what??? is that a computerized voice or a burp every 3 seconds? i suppose this is just too artsy for me; the instrumentals seem well done. The vocals, though?? Is that really how the singer sounds or is he like doing a vocal cosplay of some cartoon villain I don't know about? but really the instrumentals were good enough that i listend the whole way through

ok im done sry
in all this contest was not for me

Lots of good songs are generic, but being generic isn't a good thing. It calls to question why the song was made in the first place.

Could just play the original song over and over again to do that.
