I like the HunterxHunter thing, despite my previous criticism of an anime song. It's just - actually good, on its own. Still, it IS a sound I've heard before at the end of lots of animes. It's cliched. But the song somehow gets past that in a way I don't think the other does. Too bad it doesn't come with english lyrics.

This song is actually from the first HxH.

It was made in 1999 so fairly older than the more generic jpop songs nowadays. Minako Honda (who passed away in 2005) was basically Japan's Madonna in the 80s and 90s.

I couldn't find a version where the lyrics were on the screen, but if you're interested, here is a p good side by side translation of the lyrics.

I thought Chad's intro was super good and I was going in my head "please don't be screamo please don't be screamo" and then it happened around 15 secs in :/ I actually tolerated the full song, and I thought the instrument playing was beautiful. It made me sad that there was someone literally just yelling over the music in some parts.

Oh, I meant it as the opposite, about how any genre can have good and bad songs. It's why I don't pay much attention to the genre of a song when I'm listening, and still listen to like screamo and stuff every time in case I might end up liking it, etc.

I really liked the intro. Basically capturing me with the intro + really nice instrumental at parts + the clean vocals (when the guy wasn't doing screamo) earned it my 12.
