Yes. Maple syrup makes everything good.

You could take a pile of sawdust, smother it in maple syrup and people would eat it. But yeah, bacon + maple syrup=win.

I prefer waffles with bacon flavored syrup. Seriously why has no one come up with that yet!?

seems obvious, guys

From my experience, pretty much any establishment that makes you a waffle... it's just a pancake with a funny shape. My dad had this old waffle iron that used to make waffles that had extremely high "walls" (whatever you call the square pockets) that were tight and thin. It made the waffle very crispy all around if cooked properly. Every bite had a crispness to it. It was heaven. I've yet to find any iron or restaurant that can mimic this. Usually it's just a pancake with squares on it... which isn't bad, but it's not the same. Some places have large squares, but the walls are so thick that it still all just tastes cakey.

Its not the shape of the iron that makes the edges crispy, its the temp of it, and using the proper batter

Well, whatever it is, no one makes it like that, unfortunately. Maybe the heating element in these suckers doesn't go up as high as it used to, because most of the home ones I see only plug in (you don't even have the option to set the temp).
