I was at 35 but fell to 45 because I only played 6 Book Clubs, not 7.

not that we have many people in it, but join the MS league! https://fantasymovieleague.com/group/42 ... ype=season

I'll go up to 42 if things stand, although i'm assuming i'll fall another couple of places as they add people's lineups manually

Yeah I've been playing since around this time last year. This has been my first really good season though.

My best season is still my first complete one, where I finished 10th. Trying to get up there again. It's been a weird season overall. assuming the PC stays the same, I'll end up with 6 out of 12 weeks being PC, which is pretty high but shared by a ton of people. The last month in particular has been easy-PCs.

The resistance has been helpful to me, but I end up not doing the consensus pick as many times as not. There's something weird about the way voting goes.

The resistance is very helpful to me on weeks where I'm too busy to really investigate the options, because the consensus pick thread usually gives me something to run with, even if it's not the best option. I chime in when I can with information about limited release movies, since I have an inside perspective on those from my job, so I don't feel like I'm just mooching. But yeah Resistance consensus pick is usually not the best. Often hedging or running with the second/third best option is better.

Also yes this second half has been annoying. Early season basically decided it for everyone. I probably would have landed top 25 if I hadn't swapped off Strangers 7x last minute :/

it was actually very good for me as i was in africa the past two updates so having pretty obvious choices was essential as my internet was basically nonexistent.

I saw the Will Arnett talking dog buddy cop movie last night and it was full of bewildering narrative choices and sloppy editing

there's a whole subplot where the dog voiced by Ludacris has to get over his fear of having his dog testicles touched by strangers

i mean considering the lowest industry projections put it at $130m, it is slightly concerning

but that's easily explained by a combination of it being R rated + coming on the heels of Infinity War + having to technically compete against two other Marvel properties in some places (IW/BP)

still a strong showing, but first sign of a potential slowing

the bigger loser is going to be Solo opening next week. I bet it barely cracks $100m since it's competing against Deadpool + Avengers + has had pisspoor marketing

I'm pretty sure my fiancee is going to get me to go see Solo, it looks like a movie I would wait to rent otherwise.

Deadpool 2 was pretty good.

I also watched the Lord of The Rings over the past few weekends, long ass movies, but they hold up.

I have Moviepass which makes it a lot easier to justify seeing probably bad movies that I might get some enjoyment out of. there's a bunch of interesting but not great things I've seen this year that I would've missed otherwise.

If anyone is interested in gore or old schlocky horror movies, I found the weirdest thing on Netflix.

Search for "Mad Ron's Prevues From Hell". In the 80s (aka before the Internet) people would put together VHS tapes of weird compilations and tapes would get passed around. This is a collection of hard-to-find 60s, 70s, & 80s gore and exploitation movie trailers curated for basically horror nerds.

And it's hosted by a really bad ventriloquist act.

that was my take too. truthfully, if it weren't a star wars movie that was just its own thing, i think people would have been really receptive. Of course, it wouldn't have made as much money then but...
