Talk about Community here
RECKONER kept talking about Community on facebook and I decided to ask about it a bit...I saw the chinese guy from Hangover and Role Models do an interview about Community and what he would do to me if I didn't watch the show, so I gave it a try and the rest is history XD
So I just discovered that Troy is the rapper on this song: http://hypem.com/#!/item/1b48h?awesm=awe.sm...
Awesome!!!
Is Chevy Chase not coming back next year?
Can't wait until September...

Love this show so much. Watching it through again with the girlfriend at the moment, makes it about the fourth time I've watched it cover-to-cover since I discovered it a couple of months ago.
Chevy Chase is coming back next year, I believe, but it looks like he'll be taking up the season 1 Chang role of recurring antagonist. Which is good. They couldn't have kept him in the group any longer believably.
Re: favourite episodes, gotta be Modern Warfare. That was the moment the show stopped being decent and became unbelievably awesome. Possibly my favourite scene is the one in Football, Feminism and You with Jeff and Troy arguing about what's racist.

In S2, there's an episode where Abed isn't seen the whole time. However, if you pay attention to the background movement in the scenes, you see Abed have his own storyline playing out where he's doing couples counseling between a married couple then ends up delivering their baby in the back of a van. It took me like three watch throughs to catch all of it.green shirt thursdays- xRECKONERx

Abed is a known fan of the show Cougar Town. He tells a story in "Critical Film Studies" about being an extra on Cougar Town and seeing all the actors and coming up with a story for his character (Chad) and the story ends with him pooping his pants and running off-screen.
Then, in the Cougar Town finale, we see Abed in the background of one of the shots, going through the exact same existential crisis he described in that episode, and in the end he poops his pants and runs off. This means that, essentially, the characters in "Community" and the real-life actors on "Cougar Town" exist in the same universe. Abed = Courtney Cox, essentially. However, to make things weirder...
Ted from Scrubs showed up in a recent episode of Cougar Town, playing his same character from "Scrubs". So now, when you think about it, Abed watches a TV show starring Courtney Cox, and that guy from Scrubs came on during an episode to reprise his role as Ted. So our reality is watching the Community reality, who is watching the Cougar Town reality. Of course, we can also watch the Cougar Town reality. When I say "reality" I mean that the characters are "real" and not just actors.
Things get really weird, though, when you take into account the fact that the actors from Cougar Town showed up in the Community finale... just standing there at Greendale watching the end of the paintball game. They don't say anything, they just stand and cheer for the winning team. Which means they are the characters themselves, going to Greendale (a real place).
Abed has the potential to be a very bizarrely meta character. If we could get one of the other less meta characters on the show actually interact with Cougar Town or Scrubs in some way, we could get a better feel for the situation... but how it appears now is this:
People in real life (me, you) watch/can watch Cougar Town, but understand they are actors and not real characters.
Abed watches Cougar Town and actually goes as far to be an extra on the show.
Therefore, Abed exists in the same reality as us... BUT... we also watch Abed on TV, knowing that he is not a real character, meaning he's actually not beneath us.
Sam Lloyd appears on Cougar Town playing Ted Buckland from Scrubs. We, as well as Abed, see this as "Sam Lloyd appearing on Cougar Town as Ted Buckland". The Cougar Town characters see it as "Ted Buckland appearing in their lives".
That puts the hierarchy like:
Real Life (all characters below this are fictional)
Community (characters are real; Cougar Town & Scrubs are fictional)
Cougar Town & Scrubs (characters are real; no fictional people)
Really really bizarre. I can't wait to see if any other shows get pulled into this thing.green shirt thursdays- bv310

I *really* wanted to like Debate 109, as I debated in both high school and college, but...it was tough. It was painfully funny, but also, at times, painful.

I agree, but that doesn't make him less funny, it just means he has to stay a supporting character. He's a little like Creed from The Office--he's at his best when he's limited to 3-4 utterly insane one-liners. That's still funny.
I really hope they bring back Eliza Coupe's guest character as that Secret Service agent who had a thing for Abed. That was hilarious. And I love Eliza Coupe...she was, like, the only good thing about Scrubs towards the end of that series. On hiatus from any new mafia commitments.
