okay so ....

definitely thought jaime was donezo. in fact, why wasn't he? cersei told the mountain to do it, why didn't he?
what exactly was the point in littlefinger? I mean like, I get he was undone by his own protege which is NEAT and all but for the entirety of the story to be caused by his manipulations and for him to just go out like that seemed like a weak ending for a power player.
the whole meeting was a bit of a letdown, mostly due to the fact the plan to capture a wight made little sense anyway. and then we get the meeting and literally nothing happens. cersei still confirmed the best player of the game but like, it felt like going around your elbow to get to your asshole. i suppose it gives cersei a slight advantage because now they're unprepared for her surprise attack.
arya/sansa pretending was expected but a couple problems: 1) if you have to have your characters act completely out of character for several episodes just to pull a "gotcha" on the audience, it's bad writing ...and 2) why were they pretending even in scenes where the audience was the only observer? it's really shitty sleight of hand

that being said... predictions for the final season!

Spoiler:
- all 3 dragons are gonna die fighting the WW (redshirt Rheagal probably dies first and hero Drogon kills zombie Viserion)
- grey worm & gendry & unsullied & dothraki die in the WW war.
- jon winds up killing dany to forge Lightbringer and become Azor Ahai which enables him to defeat the NK
- theon goes to rescue Yara from Euron, he and Yara self-sacrifice to blow up Euron's boats and kill the Golden Company
- cersei gets pissed about the golden company and marches lannister army north planning to blindside jon/dany.
- arya kills jaime then uses his face to kill cersei, fulfilling the prophecy.
- lannister army going north brings the mountain north and the hound finally kills the mountain then dies.
- jon aka aegon (sp?) has his truth revealed, isnt a stark, assumes iron throne. tyrion is his hand, varys the maester of whispers. probably missandei is there somewhere.
- sansa reigns in winterfell.
- bronn dies in a moment of true selflessness trying to save someone.
- brienne dies dueling Wight-Tormund.
- sam is archmaester and writes A Song of Ice and Fire.
- bran probably dies doing some weird warging shit.

Spoiler: season 8 body count
dead: all 3 dragons. dany. yara. theon. euron. grey worm. cersei. jaime. bronn. brienne. night's king. grey worm. unsullied. dothraki. hound. mountain. gendry. bran.

I don't think they were pretending? The implication is Bran revealed things to Sansa offscreen. Perhaps at her behest. I don't think Arya ever wanted to kill Sansa, and is just a bit crazy by normal people standards now, and little finger warped that into something else. Shrug.

There was tension at Winterfell because the writers said so

That's literally it.

This is my thoughts on the finale, I might have more to say later.

Spoiler: SPOILER
Interesting episode. It was nice to see Arya and Sansa collab together against LF as many people have suspected. My only concern with that is did he ever think about what Sansa would do? He taught her the way he works, but didn't consider the possibility of her betraying him in that moment? (Maybe he didn't realize that she knew that he killed the boy) So, really, she should have said "You shouldn't have trusted me" similar to what he said to Ned Stark "I told you not to trust me." His mistake was trusting her, and possibly loving her to the point of not considering the possibility of her turning on him. He did tell her that he wanted to be king, so he should expect her to expect him to act in his own interest. I loved it when he asked to be escorted, that he was denied.

It was nice seeing Theon finally being redeemed. The only reason he survived is thanks to Ram cutting his balls off therefore giving him immunity to ball kicks. He had that goofy smile. I don't expect much more out of him though, unless he expects to be ball kicked many more times.

I liked how they placed the reveal while Jon/Dany were having sex. Hawt.

Some people are saying they think that Tyrion is plotting to have Cersei's child rule and if so, I feel he might be the runner up villain if Cersei somehow dies. He'll become a villain, but he'll redeem himself as a Lannister. Then we would get good times with Jaime and Tyrion again.

That's all I care to talk about right now.

sort of a letdown of an episode for me. It was all "fine" in the sense that it did what it needed to. The meeting with everyone was awesome just because it put all these characters/actors in one place (other than Sansa and Arya).

I'm not sure why they don't even nod to the fact that Sam ignored Gilly on the marriage thing and claimed credit for it. Oh well.

Littlefinger's end was disappointing to me, but mostly because I still want book Littlefinger. The show never really made me think "oh this is a genius plotter" so it kind of makes sense he meets his end this way.

I really hope it's not going to be (prediction spoiler)
Theon defeating Euron, taking over the Golden Company, and riding to aid against the White Walkers as a heroic transformation)

So some morning after thoughts:

-so yes, all the drama in winterfell prior to this episode was pretty dumb. But littlefingers trial was great if I just ignore the contrivances leading up to the gotcha. I loved everything about that scene. I disliked that it dragged out as long as it did. But if they'd have killed him off earlier they'd have just needed to find some other contrived plot for the stark siblings to do all season.

-so yes, the plan to capture a wight and convince cersei was dumb af and cost dany a dragon for pretty much no reason. But I loved all the tension in the kings landing scenes. I loved the hound and brienne talking about arya. Tyrion and Cersei was a great scene, as was Jamie and Cersei. I legit thought Jamie was getting cleaved in half by the mountain for a minute. I loved the reactions when the wight jumped out of the box. Cersei playing the game well, for a minute I was thinking huh this all seems a bit too easy, then cersei didn't disappoint.

-Theon's actor continues to be the best on the show IMO. Theon and Jon was a great scene (and also S8 prediction: theon comes back and reminds Jon he doesn't have to choose, he's a targaryen and he's a stark). I liked how the fight with the other iron born dude went down. I dislike that the payoff isn't coming until next season. In a season where everything was moving at lightspeed it was obvious this plot was just being held back. I mean, the Naval battle was like the first big event of the season, and then... nothing.

-The wall coming down was the most predictable event of the finale. And it was pretty heavily foreshadowed going back to last season. When it finally happened, it was pretty underwhelming how it happened. I was hoping something more magical would bring the wall down. Well I mean I guess undead blue ice-flame dragon is pretty magical but I was hoping for something a little less like direct blunt force. I think also because of the way the nk got the dragon stemming from the stupid wight capture plot plays into it. And now the NK is basically dany at the end of S6 - stupidly OP AF and could just fly into winterfell S8e1 and blow it to hell before Jon and Dany even get there. Same as how Dany could have taken KL except for the clever plans that failed. And I don't think the NK will be messing around with clever plans so it's going to seem dumb when the nk doesn't just roll over the north. Maybe there will be something to the "must always be a stark in winterfell" line that's been repeated all series? NK is going to need to lose that dragon of his pretty quick I think. Maybe Rhaegal takes it out sacrificing himself in the process?

-cleganebowl basically confirmed for S8. get hype, airhorns, etc.

-I think Euron was way overhyped as a villain. He was supposed to be worse than Joffery and Ramsay. Sure he's completely insane, but we haven't even seen him do anything or act truly evil. I mean I guess cutting the tongues out of his enemies after winning the battle, but that seems pretty tame compared to Joffrey or Ramsay. Hasn't tortured yara that we know of, she looked in decent shape when she was paraded into KL anyways. Killing the sandsnakes is like accidentally choosing paragon when you're trying to play full renegade. I don't hate him in the way I hated Joffrey or Ramsay.
I'm not sure why they don't even nod to the fact that Sam ignored Gilly on the marriage thing and claimed credit for it. Oh well.
I mean, they kinda did. Sam said he was the one who transcribed the book that gilly was reading. So he knew what was in there before Gilly read it to him, which also kinda explains his agitation about it.

I remember reading that in interviews prior to the season.

This may be the interview I remember: one of many sources
Empire magazine had a season preview of Game of Thrones and the actor who plays Euron, Pilou Asbæk, has been talking up his characters ruthlessness in Season 7.

"The psychos I’ve encountered have so many different sides to them. So each scene I’ve done with Euron, I pick a new thing I wanna show. ‘This scene I want to be charming.’ ‘This scene I wanna be a molester.’ ‘This scene I wanna kill someone.’
After this season, Ramsay’s gonna look like a little kid
," he said.

yeah, don't think the writers, creators and directors agreed. haha

frankly I'm glad for that. I thought Ramsay was not a good addition, bogged things down, and introduced needless cruelty rather than just "this is a cruel world" cruelty.

It's a relic from the books. He's built up way better in them, and is implied to have a supernatural agenda on the "global threat" level of bad. In the show they probably intended to cut him entirely but after the most recent TWOW chapter was released upping his importance they had to shove him back in without warning. They've excised a lot of his supernatural elements so in the show he's just a crude, psychotic asshole
