Ok, I need a few math questions

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Tue Sep 30, 2003 1:35 pm

Post by Stewie »

My math course doesn't start until 4-5 months more, and I -really- need some practice. If someone can give me some grade 10 math problems I could do, or a link to a site that does, I'd be gratefull.

Thanks

You should be more specific. What are you looking for? Algebra? Trig? Geometry? Calculus?

Look through the archives and the old Visitor Submitted Puzzles at the Grey Labyrinth. There's some good stuff there if you look hard enough.

You could look some up on the web but it's more fun if we pose some. However, I have no idea what you man by grade 10/grade 8, so if you could translate it for us non-Americans...

heh, I was about to give some explanation for shadyforce, but then realized that I would probably get something wrong about government schools, being homeschooled.

I think that's a little advanced, gslamm, and certainly nothing they're going to be tested on. Cool stuff to be sure, but mostly tangential.

For Stewie, I would say to check out

http://mathforum.org/pow/, the Problems of the Week at Drexel University. I think it should be at an appropriate level for the most part, but I can't be more specific until you give us a course name.

For Blackhawk, I refer to you to Dr. Math's middle school algebra page:

http://mathforum.org/library/drmath/set ... gebra.html

There are tons of questions and answers for precisely that material you're talking about.

Of course, if you want specific problems or help understanding anything, I'd be happy to help.

shady: you start school when you are 6 years of age, at grade 1, and hen you advance 1 grade each year, or something lke that, until grade 12.

Mathcam: the course I finished is pre-calculus mathematics for grade 10, and I have a huge gap of time until my grade 11 math, and I have to do something until them, or hey are going to kill me.

Electra: all you said I know about.

I'll now check out all the sites you gave me, thanks :)

They
can
, gslamm, but they weren't asking for fun math...they were asking for math that would help them prepare for school.

Tangential is also trig...remember the "tangent" function? Of course, tangent lines are geometry.

I learned Tan, Sin, and Cos in geometry, physics and probably will learn it a 3rd time in Trig. Jeez, it's impossible to get it out of my head. :?
Ever wonder why that edit button is obnoxiously placed in the center like that? Yeah, that's cause of me.. and trust me, it's better off there.

No, it's not totally impossible. Wait until you're 47 years old. Then try to find it way back there in the recesses of your greying cranium. Lotsa luck!

They went to hollywood, played in a couple of movies and that's the last I've heard of them really ;).

That's actually an excellent site. I used it a bit last year to revise for my college exams, so it probably a bit advanced for grade 10 or whatever.
