Post here what you think has changed majorly in mafia since all these new peopel showed up. For example, it really bugs me how they go
unvote, vote whoever
. What's the point in saying unvote to help out the mod and remind him if you're not going to say who it is you're unvoting!!!???? It's a waste.

I actually dislike it as well, because it's so close I often miss the vote bit. I just read it as "unvote X". Frankly, I never understood why we need unvotes, I just replace the votes in the excel file, I don't need to know if people are unvoting or not.

i think players should PM their final votes to the mod, so the mod could just look at his/her PM's and go "oh, it looks like ive got some vote-mail" and then you open and all it is is the name of whoever you are voting for but thats just me

How would the players in question know those are the final votes? Should they be able to predict future role claims and incriminating posts?

And yet the question remains, how do they know these are really the final votes?

Don't members have the ability to delete PM's that havent been read yet by the receiver.
If so, that could keep from flooding the mod's PMbox.
If any incriminating posts come up, just delete your previous PM and submit a new one.
If it's already been read, well, thats why i'd prefer to just keep keeping the votes in the thread. Though that might change if i were to ever mod a game.

Well, there's also the slight issue of the votes being public or much of the game's point is completely lost...

Actually, sometimes I would actually want to unvote and
not vote for somebody else.
This is just here so my posts don't look so ugly when I edit them.

Not really as much for the mod, but for the other players. If they see you post
unvote
but not the player's name then they'll have to check their own spreadsheet if they have one or go back to a vote count (which can sometimes be annoying to find). I don't know about you but I don't remember who everyone is voting for- I need the reminder. It just make things easier.

If it really bugs you that much I'll stop. Most of the time I feel like saying anything about the vote is extraneous when read in context with the post. I figured anything people did in bold was specifically for the mod.

It's not as bad as on another forum though. There you have to give your vote, and then your reason, in the format of
Reason: blah blah blah
. I always just say "See above" to show how stupid it is.

Yeah, I guess I could definitely see wanting it if you didn't use a spreadsheet, though you could try using two navigator windows to facilitate the searching. Clearly this is the type of thing that's going to be a mod preference. I guess mods should just list it at the beginning of the game.

I realized you don't even need to keep track of who's voting for who in a spreadsheet. I just copy the old vote count into my new post window, and use a second browser to go through the thread since the old vote count, cutting and pasting names as I go. It works with remarkable accuracy, if I may say so myself.

That's exactly the way I do it. That's why I use markers. Works like a charm. This also makes unvoting unnessecary (though it still saves a little time looking for names when using it). But I think unvoting should be kept in the game anyway, so it's easier for the other players to see what's happening.

I do that too. You need unvoting anyway, as a player may want to unvote without re-voting.

You're right, PolarBoy. But I was refering to Dragon Slayer's initial point, saying which person you are unvoting. Wrong explanation on my side, sorry about that :).

I think the larger issue to be concerned with though is that most people who unvote without naming a name had NO IDEA WHO THEY WERE VOTING FOR! Who cares what the mod thinks of this... What does this say about the player?! How am I going to convince someone to think my way when they don't even remember what colour socks they're wearing?

Are you pulling this statement out of thin air? Where did you hear that new people never remember who they vote for because I am slightly offended by the statement.

Where's your frame of reference for saying what you just said? I don't even think the word "never" was used in this thread until you showed up.
