Long signatures

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Mon Oct 20, 2003 10:54 pm

This is more of a strongly-worded suggestion than a discussion topic, but it's something that's really been bugging me lately.
Please
, people, if you want to have a long, multi-line signature as part of your Profile, I have no problem with that... but take a moment to shrink down the font so it's not so huge and distracting. It's an annoyance... not an earth-shattering one, but an annoyance nonetheless. With me specifically, I find it hampers my ability to accurately vote-count (which I happen to be abysmal at anyway, thankyouverymuch  ).

Don't mean to be rude with this... just a pet peeve I had to get off my chest. As the Bartles & Jaymes guys used to say, "Thank you for your support."

a limit to the signature lenght would be better. like 50 pxels of height for example. That would be about 3 lines with normal font or 4 with small. Probably a lot more with the extra small font. I don't likethe "don't display sigs" idea because tey might have something useful on them, like "sign up for [theme] mafia!"

Then people will miss out on those "important" things. I personally dislike sigs and try to never read them. There shouldn't ever be anything of great importance in them. If you like them, then you can view them, that's why I'm making it an option...

I like reading sigs... usually. I only get cranky about multi-line sigs that end up overpowering the rest of the post. I'd be seriously torn as to whether or not to view sigs if that were an option.

Then there should be some international law that your sig can't have more than X lines, then, eh?

I can't wait until that avatar size limit comes out too....

Ever wonder why that edit button is obnoxiously placed in the center like that? Yeah, that's cause of me.. and trust me, it's better off there.

There is a limit to sig size... That's why mine isn't multicoloured... Even tho its not too big, as soon as i add color codes it is..

I find sigs distracting when i'm skimming or speed reading, when they're the same size and or stlye as the body of text, i tend to automatically read them. If they are smaller and different colours then it's easier to skip over them...

I personally think sig size should be restricted based on lines not chars...

(Or maybe area...)

Or have a minimum humour/area factor. If it's big, it better be damn funny.

Cadmium, don't think of it as a typo. Think of it as a suggestion. :)

HAHAHA!!! I don't know if anyone remembers but I had a really long sig complaining about how people always use long sigs and then when you finish reading you think "Well that was a waste of time". Meanwhile by the end of reading this long long LONG sig you realize the same thing.

Oh okay, I'll consider it ;). So now there's only one problem left, choosing between the following:
Prove me wrong, Camium.

Cadminum :I agree with you about the dragon and about DB

So what does Cadium & mathcam do?
:D

Heh. Who knew cadmium was so hard to spell? Though there's something beautiful about that "cam" term in one's name that would seem to make your decision easy.
