Ooh... a few more that will pull the ol' heartstrings:

Paragon of Mafia Hunters (best Mafia finder, in one game, or in general)
Flying Pumpkin That Shoots Laser Beams Out Of Its Ass Award (This could replace the best new role award, or could be for something else... who knows. We need this to be an award though)

Behind the Scenes Award (best/most valuable contribution to making mafiascum tick, i.e. for list mods or admins)

i tried to think of names for them all (on the back of CS's flying pumkin award) couldnt think of any for
Best Theme Adaptation
Best performance (singular or team)
if you have better name also shout them out (mine are pretty lame)

I think we should have a "Worst Role Claim" award. I know it's a negative one but it should be relative to their experience level. If a newbie made a poor role-claim then it's not that big a deal but if an experienced player made a huge blunder then he/she should be named and laughed at! If I made one, I would expect it and accept it.

really lame! Buh... can't think of much else though. Perhaps the best performace award should be named the best Actor/Actress award, as a tribute to the oscars, or maybe just call it the oscar. We could name the best theme after the very first theme game on mafiascum, which as I recall was wild west or something like that.

i was thinking of something dp related for theme adaptation (i think the wild west was him, but dont quote me on that, im not sure)

For the record, I believe the first theme game here was Dune. (Edit: Yes, it was a DP game, as was the early Wild West game that happened. And "Dragon Phoenix Award" would be just fine for the best-theme-adaptation category.)

(And I could not agree more about the Need (with capital letters, even!) to have a Flying Pumpkin That Shoots Laser Beams Out Of Its Ass award.)

Dune was the first themed game on this site indeed. And what a game it was!!

Wild West Mafia was not a DP game though. Neo was the moderator. I remember it well. That's the only game I been in where I was lynched

before

the majority was even reached

I think we should try and rename some of these to be more... relevant to the board, in the theme of the flying pumpkin. For instance, since this will be for the 2003 year as I understand, we can call the awards after the retroactive (and normally humourous) winners of 2002. Like the flying pumpkin. Follows are my suggestions (some of them aren't changed)

Best Role Claim - "Johnny Cochrane Award" (spelling?)
Funniest Role claim(downright stupid but hilarious) - "George W Bush Award"
Best role (new or adaptation) - "Flying Pumpkin That Shoots Lazers Out Of Its Ass award"
Best Theme Adaptation - "Dragon Pheonix award"
Person most likely to die night 1 - "Kenny Award"
Best Performance (either singular or team) - "Oscar"
Best Night Scene writer - "Paperback Writer Award"
Best Contribution to mafia discusion - "Professor Mafia award" (I think this one sould be distinguished somehow, as one of the more serious awards)
The best mafia catcher - "Paragon of Mafia Hunters award"
Most likely to be lynched on day 1 - "The Scapegoat award"
Best SK - "Hannibal Lector Award"
Funniest player - "The Coffee on the Monitor award"
Behind the scenes contrib - "The Who Needs Their Username in Orange Award"
Most Prolific player - "Addict award"

Well, the names can be an evolving thing. I think its about time to open up nominations. Clearly Macros wants to take care of this, since I'm starting finals now, and then disappearing from civilization for a while. Hmm... Maybe I should go put that in the Limited Access thread...

Anywho... I suggest you start a new thread, and officially open the floor to nominations for the awards.

meh, its pretty pointless imo, itsa not likely to get voted to a win anyway, since they're all very small games witnessed by very few.
