As someone that has lived in Turnball's electorate, I know many people that vote for him in his seat but Labor in the Senate just because he comes across as a capable politician even though they are not really Lib voters.

If I were Abbott, I'd go about obtaining a confidence motion from the caucus (or even Parliament if the Liberals have the requisite numbers) to claim my mandate.

Strong-arming the caucus members into voting for you would only really serve to piss them off. Worse, it looks desperate.

It looks like he doesn't have much to lose, though.

I went and saw this guy in Melbourne last week. Phenomenal skillz. Closed the show with Talk is Cheap of course, just him, a piano, and the entire crowd singing it. Good times. Plus all his songs were just a little tweaked for the live show, or just reworked entirely because he's bored with playing them. The man has talent.

If anyone needs a suggestion of where to take a lady- (or man-) friend out to a romantic show, make it Chet Faker.



Annnnnnnnd just to make this thread a little more topical, how are we feeling about the drug peeps getting shot sometime soon? I just want it done so I can stop hearing about it every time I turn on the tv or check the news. They knew what they were getting into. If you don't want to be punished, don't smuggle the drugs. Especially into Indonesia of all countries.

As much of a big blow up event this thing is, give it one month after they are executed and nobody will care. Bar the families of course.

I do realise it's way deeper than that. But these people had to know what they were going into.

I have to agree also that death penalty is not ideal. But the media attention it all gets is a bit overwhelming. I'm burnt out on the issue and I barely even care.

Then again maybe that's the problem.
