What Color is Your Master Splinter?

Guys, this is serious. It's a travesty to hear that someone, I won't mention names (echo419) believes the 2003 is better than 1987 version.

This thread is for discussion on which color master splinter should actually be. I have some pictures here that will hopefully help you decide or reafirm your case. I wish you luck in this endevour.

See, here's why judging's a problem for me: I've only seen the original cartoons (& 1 movie). I don't like the grey Splinter, but that's as much the jaggedyness and claws as anything else; so how can I say that brown's better, when I might just prefer the drawing style of the original cartoons. So, is there any chance of some more pictures (say, of the turtles) to round it out? I'd search, but I really don't care nearly enough.

see, this is why star wars is awesome, its all one continuity other than infinties, and certain tales, which makes no ultimate versions of characters or AU characters

Right. And there's never any issue about who shot first.

That reminds me... I need to check out these two shows and see how much weirder they are than their original counterparts.

Man, I feel owned.

That is all.

Fucking george lucas.

There are also some slight other problems with novelizations/adaptions being slightly different, but that's easy to fix.

And authors not doing their research. That happens a lot.

But that whole G canon changing itself and nothing can override it sucks. Official continuity is that they shot at the same time though.
Surfs up dude.

Actually, the 2003 cartoon is closer in spirit to the original Eastman and Laird comic book (which was fairly bloody and somewhat serious, as a parody of things like Daredevil and The New Mutants.)

However, I do prefer the animation style of the 1987 cartoon better.

There's also apparently a 2007 CGI movie (see trailer here.)

Anybody who mentions the 1997 live action show will be shot. Except for me, since I'm cool like that.
I replaced into Chess Mafia for 6 months, and all I got was a win and this lousy sig.

Old school looks better.

But everyone knows that live action from whenever I'm not supposed to mention would be the most entertaining.

The 86 series was cheesy, but I it was kind of a fun cheesyness like the orignal transformers series.
I didn't like the newer series that much. It struck me as trying to be too serious. I mean, it's giant turtles who know martial arts! The movies wern't very series and that's why I liked them (Ok, the first 2, the 3rd was crap).

A few episodes of the newer series had Usagi Yogimbo, which I thought was pretty cool, and in one episode we find out shredder is a brain-alien like crane (A refrence to the 86 show) I thought that was pretty funy, but overal, not that great a series.
Winner of the "if real life was like mafia" thread. :D

I have a question I must ask. Last year at work two of the people I worked with insisted Michelangelo’s mask was yellow, while I said it was orange what’s the verdict?

Michelangelo's mask is most def orange in every single series and movie. Unfortunately, I am not well versed in the comix but I'm pretty sure it's the same.

As for the pictures, I just wanted to show Echo the error of his ways. ;) It's mostly about the color of master splinter as opposed to what show was better. Which show is better = discussion. What color master splinter should be, while most likely related, is the question being asked.

And it appears one of my pics is broken, so i'll have to fix it.

I like the grey one better simply because there's more contrast between splinter and his outfit.

Ack what a terrible suggestion that is the new one better the old? Ha, tis sheer folly to go with the newer one for several reasons.
A. 2003 series is much like many cartoons today- going for the sharp and slightly not realistic look. Traditional (old) realistic artwork is so much better.
B. See reason A
C. I grew up on the old stuff.....I mean how many people here have ever heard of the 2003 version.

In precis, I boldly declare support for the older Splinter!

As my father pointed out back in the day when i watched the show, almost any two words in the title of the show put together make more sense then the actual title. "Teenage ninjas" or "mutant ninjas" or "" or "teenage mutents" or "teenage ninjas" or "teenage turtles" all sounds like fairly logical titles for a show or movie.
