What's a good desktop computer brand?

Not exactly true. A gaming laptop is going to produce more heat when it's used for gaming, but for other functions it's going to be better suited for cooling if anything.

Well, I don't know if it has to be a "gaming laptop" per se, just that it is powerful enough to handle my occasional urge to play PC games (which is unfortunately is shrinking day by day).

Anyway, thanks for y'alls recommendations. I'm not buying for another month or two yet, but I will let MS know about it when I do. <3

so I bought an airbake cookie sheet off amazon, and elevated it on tiny rubber sticky feet
my overheating error messages have ceased

So I'm buying a desktop with OPM. Main requirement is decent amount of RAM. Any brand suggestions, or should I just browse Newegg and get whatever?

Thinking of going with this and getting a pair of monitors to go with it.

the 4 fold more RAM is kinda nice for some applications

I'm not sure how the video cards compare, but they both seem to be relatively low end. I believe the Intel processor performs better than the AMD, but that particular AMD can be overclocked better than the 4770 can. If you can find a desktop with a 4770k you can get both the advantages of a better performing Intel processor, and the same overclocking advantages than the AMD has, as well as the fact that those Intels seem to have a built in GPU of their own. (Capable of low end gaming I believe.)

So that laptop lasted me about 3 months which means I've been a phone poster again for the last three years. But I think I'm ready to get a desktop computer now. Anyone got reccomendations for brands or for which ones to stay away from? I'm ok with basic because it's going to basically just be for facebook, mafiascum, and maybe like pogo.com or something. And some kind of music site (or just youtube?). So any kind of gaming or anything I don't need. But I don't want a piece of garbage I need to replace in a few years either. Also, please be easy on the tech lingo or I probably won't know what you're saying. Thanks in advance.

Much cheaper and less of a headache to just buy the parts and build your own. It's pretty easy; everything's clearly labeled and there's plenty of resources on youtube if you get stuck.

Plus you can get not-Windows-10 which is obviously a superbonus.
