I'm not saying they don't get some short term wins. I'm saying he might not be the best long term investment a la arod. He is injury prone for one thing.
Well obviously no one player guarantees anything. But he's probably the best possible addition to that lineup this off-season. He's a perfect fit on a team that was already one game away from the World series this past season.

The Yankees overachieved last year IMHO. They still have Boston and Tampa Bay to deal with in their own division and Cleveland, Minnesota, Houston and now the Angels to deal with in other divisions. Seattle possibly as well. I'm not saying Stanton's not a good player but I don't think he's a good long term value for the money.
It’s relatively expensive though, which sucks, but we gave away very little meaningful talent. Neither of the prospects were names I recognized (as a Yanks fan) and Castro was likely going to be out of a starting job with Gleyber coming up.
Yeah, the Yankees get an expensive player--in the one sport where having expensive players hurts the least. There's no way this is bad for them. Like D3f said, they gave up relatively little. Whether a player is a "good value" or not doesn't matter when you have money to burn.
