Apparently American Pharoah is going in as the even money favorite in the Belmont Stakes. Considering there hasn't been a triple crown winner since 1979(we've had a baseball triple crown winner(Miguel Cabrera), a tennis grand slam winner(Steffi Graf) since then,) American Pharoah would probably be the last horse I would want to bet on for the Belmont.

The Irish open golf is being held in my home town. Went down today, without tickets, managed to sneak up the beach and get a slight view. Saw Sergio Garcia heading back to the hotel but by time I got the camera out he was gone.

I've never been to a golf tournament, would love to go though. Wonder if Jordan Spieth has a chance at the grand slam? Probably not with good players like Rory McIllroy, Bubba Watson and Phil Mickleson trying to stop him.

This was crazy. And maybe a minute or two later, he's walking around. That car was in the worst shape I can remember seeing other than Geoff Bodine about 15 years ago where all he had left was a roll cage. Dillon's wreck was scarier though. 190 mph right at that fence with fans behind it and just the sudden stop. Then getting hit by the 2 after he thinks it's over to add insult to injury. I've got a friend who is on Harvick's pit crew and he said nobody on that pit wall thought Dillon was coming out of that car. It's great to see how much safer these cars have become over the years.

I've been a NASCAR fan for almost 20 years. It was the first sport I really got into.

You really didn't need the word major in the thread. This is what we call the non-sports thread.

The World Series of Poker main event is going on now. Matt Jarvis, Daniel Negranu, former champion Joe Hachem, and Antonio Esfandiari are big names still in the running.

Yeah, about 20 years here too. Jeff Gordon fan, because that's right about the time he came into the sport too.

I've noticed a lot of sports milestones have been broken in recent years. The baseball triple crown, the horse racing triple crown, Serena has a chance at the tennis grand slam, the hot dog eating streak. I wonder what is going on to facilitate this?

Forgot about this thread already. I went to the Bristol race this past weekend. Got Ryan Blaney's autograph and won tickets to next year's Kentucky race. Definitely a fun time and can't wait for Kentucky.

Serena is down a break in the 1st set of the 2nd round of the US Open in her quest for the first calender year grand slam since Steffi Graf in '88.
