Should I Upgrade To Windows 10

The forced updates and the restarts it causes are an annoyance I'll give you that. The best you can do is schedule a restart so that it doesn't just do it whenever it wants.

It gives me the option to do it in the middle of the night.

I forget and turn my computer off like normal.

and then even if it does go through with the restart, it doesn't actually start up again. I think that could just me my computer, but it's even more annoying.

Do you mean that instead of rebooting the computer shuts off?

It jams on a loading screen.

I've left it like that for at least 6 hours on multiple occasions. It's just restarts in general though, my antivirus upgraded and asked for a restart, so I manually set one off, still got stuck at the same screen

Mine every so often says "Hey, I want to update some things, and I'm going to do it at <this time>, which will reboot your machine. You okay with that?" And I can change it to one that works for me. I think but am not sure that I get 48 hour warning.

If you postpone it long enough, it'll eventually say "fuck you, I'm restarting and I don't need your permission".




Also this Windows 10 nagging is fucking annoying. I spent extra money for 7, you piece of shit. No, I do not want to "upgrade".

I mean cleaning up of incredibly boring unwanted files and programs and old documents and chrome autofill settings and shit like that, you filthy individual. She has surfing, iTunes (in case of iPad failure), Adobe reader for PDFs and a couple of media players and that's that. And Skype because I might manage to train her although I don't hold out that much hope.

I'm coming around. It still doesn't shut down half the time, which is very strange. Like, I sit there after hitting shut down and the hard drive activity light turns off, but the wireless light and the power light stay illuminated and the fan continues to run. It's like it wants to go into this faux-sleep mode rather than shut down. Which wouldn't be so bad, but the battery doesn't act like sleep mode. So then I just hold the power button to get it to shut all the way down. I still cannot find a dark theme for it, even when I screw with the registry editor, but that's a minor complaint. I have no real complaints about how it runs though. I don't see much of an improvement over 7 from a usability standpoint, but I cannot speak to any of the more technical improvements. I'm not any sort of hardcore user anyway, so stuff like multiple desktops, Cortana, Xbox functionality, etc, does nothing for me. Boot time is much better though, hands down that's the best thing Windows 8/10 has to offer.

It might be worth it to see if you have any windows 10 specific driver installs you can do, specifically chipset drivers that correlate with your machine. Can't guarantee it will fix anything, but it might be worth finding/trying.

Apparently they changed the popup to where clicking the X would no longer kill the upgrade since it's now scheduled.
