Space is expensive in NYC. A hotel room is over $100 for a single night in what's essentially a medium-sized closet. $30/hr is not awful for a large room that can accommodate 8-10 people.

For hourly rooms, we could just...not get one. Just meet in Central Park before the temperature drops too much.

As for hotel rooms, I'd recommend just staying in New Jersey and traveling into the city during the day. Off the top of my head...you can get into NYC through the George Washington Bridge in Fort Lee, the Lincoln Tunnel in Weehawken, or the Holland Tunnel in Jersey City. Or there are ferries you can take from Edgewater or Hoboken--they're more expensive than a bus, but they're fun if you like boats. Secaucus is close to the Lincoln Tunnel and also has a train station that'll get you into New York for $4.25.

, but they're certainly a better bet.

I was thinking more a one-day thing, although if people are coming from far, I suppose hotels would make more sense. And you're right, we could do Central Park or Bryant Park. Bryant is nice. I've never been to Central Park, though.

None of you know me.. (yet) But I'm in Manhattan and might be able to host a day-gathering on MLK day or some day-meets that week, or even on a weekend earlier in January, if you guys are willing to cram into my apartment. (I doubt I can host overnight given space constraints.) If people want to do something before then, I don't know if I can host because my roommates will be around, but I'm up for renting a room or finding an activity to do.

I'm closer to buffalo and with a few PA and NJ people I think getting into Erie would be great if people can do it.
I'm going to look into a few things, I was told by the hubby there is a game convention but it maybe just video games going on in buffalo.
I would say my place as it is huge but the in laws might not be happy with strangers in the place.

Oh shit I thought of one other place and maybe if it isn't expensive rent out a room to sit, play mafia and laugh.
The hotel I went to for a b-day party had a room they rent out it's for a few hours thought.

Cards against humanity is the only one they list that interests me and I could just play that at home. If they had like massive tournaments for games I'm familiar with and stuff I'd probably be in considering I'm on vacation that week, but meh. If it's more than what it looks like, let me know. But a quick glance doesn't impress me much.
