see this is why we should just all be issued IDs

then it'd be a moot point and no one would have an excuse for not having government ID

Or just use Social Security number as voting identification? Would that work?

I'll be honest, giving my SSN to one of those volunteer poll workers would make me kind of nervous.

Voter ID laws would be okay if they were accompanied by a real effort to get all eligible voters IDs as well as expand access to voting generally. But Voter ID laws are generally part of a suite of laws and regulations designed to erect barriers to vote both generally and directed at particular groups.

Felons are -bad people-. Bad people shouldn't vote. Bad people can be counted on to vote in the interest of bad people, and we don't want that. Especially since they all vote Democrat.

Didn't you hear? Racism is dead!

That's why the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1986 mandated the same sentence for possession of 5 grams of crack cocaine or 500 grams of powder cocaine. And then the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1988 changed it so mandatory first-offense sentencing only applied to possession of crack cocaine.

Thank you. I do think he was more exaggerated in the case in question, but it could have easily just been subconscious bias. It really does look like it wasn't intentional on his part.

I actually think the same. Huh.

Crack cocaine is lower purity/quality, as it is mixed with water and baking soda. That makes it cheaper.

So isn't the law an anti-poor-people law rather than an anti-minorities law?

yes but then it's no more racist than other laws

for instance if we have a law against theft blacks are X times more likely to be arrested/convicted against theft but that doesn't mean that law is racist

look I'm on your side here but I hate drugs and I want to know why it's racist to pass harsh laws against drugs
