What Would You Rather Do? (The Spread the Love edition)

When I get drunk I usually do a stupid poll entitled the above, and to be fair I was close to doing that this time. But, there has been a thought in my mind since the modding policies thread that I haven't been able to get out of my head.

It's about how the site used to be compared to now... (hold on, this isn't a "good ol' days" post) How close this site is and easy it is to get to know people now compared to even two/three years ago. I made a post I can't quite remember and almost immediately I got into a general chat with one of the site older users. Someone I've met and liked IRL and talked many time on Scumchat, granted, but someone I wish I got to know more in our brief time in each others vicinity. It wasn't a discussion, more a catch up and it was really good to do.

Now I'll be blunt, there are a lot of people who joined recently who I've rolled my eyes at and thought are idiots. But actually, there are a few people, (Plotimus and Bellaphant, not exclusively named) who I really like and think are awesome and I realised for the most part that it's my fault I havent engaged so much with the community as of recently. So there is a part of me that thinks that some of the site users are maybe a bit young for me to get along with, which is fair enough, I joined this site in September 2007, which would have meant I was 18, a (relative) baby and in the nine years I've grown up and my priorities (for the most part) and friendships have changed. But there is a more significant part of me that not only thinks that I haven't tried hard enough to get to know the newer members, I have also let some of my actual friendships on this site slip.

So I'm writing this thread to start my version of (what was it Oman called it? I can't remember) project positivity. I'm making this thread to reach out and say, "1. Hey, Im Prozac, I miss the old fogies that I haven't talked to in a while (scumchatters, communers, Oman) I hope you are doing well, and Im sorry I haven't talked to you in an age and 2. Hey I'm Prozac, I might not have talked to you properly before, but we at the very least share a common interest in this site that refuses to let me leave. Im not here as often anymore, but if you aren't a spammer/shitposter and you fancy a chat, hello!"

If you fancy saying something similar or want to post about recent cool experiences with scummers (be it at meets or just generally) and say how awesome they are, then please post!

I've sobered up slightly since the start of this thread, and I am starting to think it's a bit overly soppy, but hell, it can't hurt so Im posting it anyway.

This site has seen me through literally my entire pubescence and sexual...sleeping in. I'm certainly not the only person who can make that claim. All I ever found on this site has been acceptable and support even as I journied from claiming to be straight with a low sex drive to casually asexual to what some might term fanatic. And I think that's something special for a site outwardly devoted to a game I stopped playing about 7 or 8 years ago.

I never got the chance to go to any meets or meet many of the older members in person (and given how many have left us I've missed my chance) but even the bonding that has occurred only on the site has meant a great deal to me. If nothing else I think the fact I've been here for nearly 13 years says more than I ever could with words. I joined this site as a first semester high school freshman. I type today two years out of law school.
