High School
- The Perks of Being a Wallflower (Stephen Chbosky-2012)- Aw, man. Even though it's set a bit before my high school years, I knew that crowd well. Haunting and Ezra Miller is an incredible actor.
Robots, Cyborgs and Androids
- Forbidden Planet (Fred M. Wilcox-1956)- Holy crap. Such a young, serious Leslie Neilsen as a straight-laced and kinda forgettable leading man. The sets are amazing and the effects are well done. Best '50s sci-fi I've seen.
Detective/Mysteries
- Prisoners (Denis Villeneuve-2013)- This is beautiful cinematography. Just amazing visuals. I liked the story and was strongly gripped until the end in trademark Villeneuve fashion, but I don't think it would quite hold together under scrutiny of repeat viewings.
