I just want everyone on here to know that no matter how much we piss each other off, or disagree you are all amazing. Things like this really puts things into perspective. I am crying and so disgusted right now.

You should change the topic to something more general, because there should be a general thread on the attack.

It's horrifying that this and the Christina Grimmie murder happened right after the other in Orlando.

What's horrifying is the pivoting that is going to be done to try to argue against any kind of gun control in the U.S.

This is like designed to hit every single hot-button political issue:

-A mass shooting
-At a gay nightclub
-By a Muslim guy.

The only way to make it more of a political minefield would be if he'd been a refugee.

His father was, and has ties to terrorism, and ran for president of Afghanistan

Leaving aside that his father seemed horrified by this in the statement of his I read, I thought you said you didn't want to discuss politics in this thread.

As a gay man in the American South, this really hits home for me in the worst way possible. Obviously all mass shootings like this are tragic events, but this is the first time I've truly looked at an event like this and thought,
That could have been me
. I knew I might face challenges in my life after coming out as gay in an area not known for its tolerance or acceptance toward LGBT individuals. But for the first time since coming out a little over a year ago, I'm scared. I'm scared for my future; that this might not be the last such attack on the LGBT community. I'm scared as I'm preparing to move to a larger city, reconsidering whether or not I'm making the right decision. I'm scared seeing latent homophobia exposed by certain reactions (or lack thereof) to this unspeakable tragedy.

I realize that I have met only a very few of you in my short time so far on MafiaScum, and I realize that many of you may not be interested in hearing a story like this from someone who you don't know. But it is precisely because of that unfamiliarity that I feel comfortable sharing my feelings of fear and vulnerability. My friends in real life wouldn't understand why I'm feeling the way I do, or they would attempt to provide bare reassurance without being able to provide a real connection.

...Just my rambling thoughts after a tragedy that is still so unimaginably raw and horrific for me to truly put words to.
PrivateI:
I wish I could bang on the home keys on my keyboard to create an appeal to emotion. It sounds so...soothing.

CuddlyCaucasian:
Mafiascum: a land where pansexuality is widely accepted and understood while two people who share the same first name cause mass confusion

You have questions about me? I try to give you answers!

This is using a tragedy as a way to spring board an agenda, and it is wrong. It was wrong of Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, and Bernie Sanders. The only person who handled this right was President Obama. Right now we need to pray, and love and remember what unites us as a country. Do not let this tragedy polarize us further. For a day, just one day we should all take a step back and just be still. Take in what today feels like. Remember it and use it for fuel later, but today be still. Today remember everyone who died this morning, remember everyone else who has ever been subject to hate and mindless violence, but don't make it about you or guns or not guns, leave today for those who suffered, and for once just be still.

I feel for you. I live in Ft. Worth, and on a regular basis I hear thing like, "I'd shoot the [insert homophobic slur here], but they aren't worth the bullet" and other just God awful things, and as much as I want to say we have moved on and evolved as a society, for a lot of, at least Texas, we haven't. Some cites are better, Austin, Denton, even parts of Dallas are great and very progressive, but the majority of the town are not and it is awful. I'm so sorry you have to feel this way or ever be scared for your life because of who you choose to love. It is tragic.

I would definitely not say that Psyche is the person in this thread who's the most guilty of making this about himself. His posts were fine.
