I'm going to attempt a run for the Texas state senate in 2018. In this thread I will be more or less discussing my platform.

I mean... you arguably won't be
worse
than many of the jokers in the texas legislature.

I feel the same way. Sadly I'd probably be running for district 12, and I like Jane Nelson.

you could run for representative. Or something more local that doesn't require you spend a lot of time in Austin every other year?

Nice, I will be posting my platform over the next few weeks here. I think people will be surprised how, um not evil I am?

p-edit
I know, Shotty for Legislature doesn't sound as good. And I've thought about representative, but idk, I guess I have to start somewhere.

If there's anything that signifies a serious bid for public office it is announcing your platform on an internet forum based around a party game that will be read by roughly 100 people, none of whom live in your district.

Good place to flesh out the kinks under serious opposition scrutiny though, given the heavy liberal base here.

Exactly my thoughts. There is no better place for a libertarian candidate to iron out the kinks than here.

I'm not trying to win your vote, simply have a viable discussion with not so like minded people.

I'd probably actually vote for you.

Personally, I'd legalize all drugs.

BUT HEOIN VENDING MACHINES! No marijuana would be a stepping stone and a litmus test. I'm not all that for telling any adult what to do with their own body.

I haven't released my financial platform yet, but in short neither would I, well at least not addition to already in place sale taxes, but I want to change to a consumption tax and eliminate 90% of all other taxes. Gary Johnson magic 22% number is a bit low, but I think 14% nationally would work, and then let states, counties, and cities determine what they need to tax beyond that. We would probably end up with something like 14% nationally, 6.5% state, 2-3% for county/city, depending on how local tax laws and boundaries are currently drawn.

True that!

The only ones I thought were ok was Abortions (I'd outlaw them altogether, but you know, that wouldn't ever work) and Gun Control.

The "Civil Union" thing satisfies the Liberals more tbh and is bound to increase costs.

Some of your other points were confusing.

Welfare I guess looks ok too, but I wouldnt want any non-perscription drugs legalized. Final, I think you would need to explain your stance on prisons better.
