Spencer's growth from being a Gamebot to a human

This was actually one of my biggest problems with Cambodia even though I liked it overall.

People like Kelly Wigglesworth, Kimmi, Keith, and Ciera were extremely under-edited for the majority of the season while shit like "will Spencer say I love you to his girlfriend??!?!?!?" and his "learning how to build relationships" were shoved down our throats.

And then the jury still fucking hated him anyway and he was shut out in the final vote despite all the attention they gave those storylines

Marquesas

beats HvV because I feel like being contrary. I haven't seen Marquesas in a while, but Borneo and Africa improved massively for me on a rewatch, so I expect Marquesas would do the same, since it was always my favorite out of the first five seasons. Marquesas really flipped the script on the first 3 seasons and showed what Survivor can be. HvV is good but it's overrated. It's an epic "Big Moves" type season, but honestly, the post-merge wasn't all that exciting, and both Micronesia and Cambodia beat HvV in this regard, IMO. Marquesas (probably) has much better character development, and between the coconut chop and the purple rock, and the original Boston Rob (and Sean and Kathy), I'm going to give it the edge here.

beats Cambodia. Cambodia felt like the Best Season Ever while it was airing, and I do believe it's the most strategically dynamic season in Survivor history, the only uninteresting votes were the last two. There was even more character development than people give it credit for: Stephen, Savage, Abi, Joe, Varner, Shirin, Kass, and Ciera all had some interesting storylines that put them in mixed light. The problem is that both Kimmi and Wiglesworth were woefully hidden, and Jeremy's winner edit was a little one-dimensional and dull. Spencer's "emotional growth" thing was interesting at first, but grew tiresome, and the whole thing felt misleading when he walked away with zero jury votes. With Amazon, I also haven't seen it in a while, but I absolutely loved it when I first saw it. It was the first season to really have dynamic strategy, not to mention the cast was great. I've always figured Amazon and Pearl Islands to be the golden age of Survivor, and while modern Survivor can be great sometimes, I don't think it's ever hit that mark.

17: Yeah I'm gonna be the contrarian that votes for Marquesas as well. Maybe if the Heroes didn't completely implode, HvV would be better.

Heroes vs. Villains

- I like being a cheerleader for Marquesas, because Kathy toppling John and Zoe is such a satisfying move, even if I really liked the dominant alliance of 4. But I just don't know if Marquesas with is lovely location, strong challenges, great narratives and fun characters can stand up to the behemoth of Heroes vs. Villains. I feel like HvV has the right mix of people with a great winner, lovely narratives throughout, one of the best ponderosas ever, and there was nary a lull throughout - so I give the nod to HvV for having more complexity and more players I like.

Amazon

- Both were amazing seasons. I have to give it up to Amazon for being such a #gamechanger and really allowing strategy to dictate moves for once. Cambodia's voting blawks probably owes itself to Amazon's faux voting blocs. Voting in Cambodia sure made it all the worthwhile of a game though.

I disagree with you on every one of your choices.

Micronesia

- Satisfying winner for a half-allstar game. It helped create a new format that didn't feel recycled. Pre-merge was good, but post-merge just killed it with the blindsides. Can't argue with the winner, but I also felt bad for it being a F2 instead of F3 as expected.

Palau

- Palau is one of my top seasons. Ulong is the trainwreck you never want to take your eyes off of. It was a season where reward challenge picks made a difference. The scrappiness of Angie was great to watch, and it's sad she's never returned. Jeff and Kim were an early showmance that got killed by injury. Jolanda was kick-ass and still got thrown off episode 1. It felt like the editing here was stellar as the stories peaked at the right time despite knowing that one tribe was going to be decimated. Felt like a complete, comprehensive season despite it really being two mini-seasons in 1.
