Also this is Turkey, the place where you get murdered for suggesting Turkey and/or its current leader have not been the best ever. If they want to disappear people they will.
Everything you say and do matters. People will respond in ways you may never see. May those responses be what you intend.

Some of Erdogan's language was pretty chilling, talking about "cleansing" the military and the like...

There is already images and video coming out showing the some executions and mass detention of people supposedly involved in the coup.
Routine day with a dirt cheap brush
Then a week goes by and it goes untouched
Then two, then three, then a month
Then the rest of your life, you beat yourself up
How unfortunate. The coup just ends up making Erdogan more powerful.
There's nothing that says that a fake can't beat the real thing.
You must not imagine that for beings like you and us there can be laughter. The low men laugh, and we envy them. But for us, the higher ones, there is no laughter, only an unending vigil, purely serious, stretching on into the night.
I mean, okay, more power to the turks, but Erdogan's regime does not exist in a vacuum. Authoritarian pseudo-dictatorships around the region, including my own government, will be taking this as legitimation of their efforts to suppress any dissent.

That's one way of resolving matters. But it might stir up unrest, cause instability and other negative long-term consequences.

Nope
Erdogan is a dictator but he keeps things stable. Look how quicklt the coup was overturned under his rule. If he had a fatal heart attack 5 minutes into the coup they would still be slaughtering each other today

Uh no, not really
'sides, if Turkey is unstable then killing the guy giving it order and structure can hardly make things better
