Bojack Horseman

Just got done with season 3 and burst into tears (but why?!) right at the end. I mean this show,

this show man.

It's just always revving full-throttle into the logical conclusions of its hi-jinks and shit, I don't know. It's all dark humor and then they rip away the humor at the last second and you're left just staring at a black screen.

Like, they spend a lot of time with the Sarah Lynn thing, how she's being abused by everyone around her from infancy onwards, and you see her driving around acting all irresponsible being sober just so she can get high again and that makes you laugh, and the silly bender and everything is just all chuckle-inducing, but then she fucking DIES, and that shit tore me up like I never expected.

And each season does something like that, and every time it just gets more daring and intense.

Just tell me your thoughts also here, if you've watched the show also.

I was a big fan of season one and I watched all of season two as soon as it came out. At that point I thought it was a contender for one of the greatest shows of all time. Then I watched all of season three as soon as it came out and I can no longer remember any other contenders for the title of greatest show of all time.

I remember thinking that one girl that got alcohol poisoning in season 2 was going to die from it, like right at the end of the season, that didn't happen, but I was expecting the show to be that ballsy, and while nothing that terrible happened in this season either I'm wondering how much of a train wreck his life will be next season.

Anix if it's not something you yourself noticed or suspected from all the way back in season 1 then it was just arbitrarily thrown in there.

Season three was amazing. Episodes 4, 8, 11, and 12 all tore me apart a little.

I think I liked seasons 1 and 2 better but 3 was still good. I liked the punchline of the ocean episode but if I watched the show again I'd probably skip it, it wasn't as good as the rest of the show. I also felt Todd and Diane got a little lost this season.

Despite Bojack being famous and older and a horse I found his depression to be very relate-able.

Everything about the show is heavy handed, and the even manage to still be heavy handed with the metaphors in the episode where he shuts up for once. It took them three seasons to be like..he's a fish out of water, so let's put him in water
because he's out of it
. And the other big kudos on that episode is that it is visually dynamic, but sorry, you're an animated show, YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE VISUALLY DYNAMIC. You don't get bonus points for that. sorry.

I saw the first episode of this show and it was pretty awful, it seems to be a lot like family guy but actually worse somehow.
I hear it gets better with future episodes but I dunno if it's worth trying.

At least from the first episode, the style of humor and joke delivery was very much like it, just presented in a way that takes itself too seriously.

I don't know if I dig this as a rule. I have to ponder it more.

I love Bojack, I think it's doing things not much TV is, and I think it's doing it better than anything else is. It's consistently hard hitting. Where Rick and Morty really has flashes of brilliance, Bojack has it all the time.
