Is there a difference between these two sites? Do any of you use both of them?

I've never played on epicmafia so I have no clue what the setup is like, but I'd like to hear people's opinions on key things that separate the two apart and which they prefer.

EpicMafia is chat mafia. Games aren't very long, and people don't really put much thought into their games.
MafiaScum is forum mafia. Games can last months, there is a strict honor system, and people actually care.

I dunno. In 08 when I was playing on EM it was always pretty light on scum hunting, but that's partially just the nature of open setups that are played over and over again with short deadlines. Many of the choices you make are dictated by optimal play or convention.

Anyway, EM and MS are very different beasts.

Like, the majority of scumhunting here happens during the day despite whatever roles may exist (even within a good part of role madnesses I see the majority of the scumhunting being based on day play rather than night action stuff)

Whereas on EM I believe it's a lot more night-based with follow the cop being common etc.

Yeah depending on the setups you play.

It was starting to get that way as early as 08 with setups like B2NS and the introduction of roles like Oracle and Gunsmith, but you could still find plenty of STBS, BV and standard setups that are pretty scumhunt-heavy at least 60% of the time.

Alright, thanks for the clarification. So it sounds like epic mafia is good if I want to play a quick game that lasts a few hours, I was under the impression they were both forum based. I've only played forum mafia.

With that said, is there a 'turbo' mafia sub-forum here? That is, games where the day/night phases are a little shorter such as 24-48 hours rather than 3 weeks or is this based on the host of the game?

Most games last 20 minutes not a few hours tbh, or at least That was the norm when I was active there.
