Cool Stuff You've Encountered
Just post some of the small things you've seen that were still pretty cool.
With my old computer (which had one of those big 2000 era monitors) if I set the speaker right next to the monitor, turned on the speaker but turned the volume all the way down, I could hear one of the local radio stations in my area. Turning up the volume drowned out the radio with weak static, and if I moved the speaker away from the monitor I couldn't hear the station anymore.-

"last time I was scum with Firebringer
his first post in the scum PT was "yes I rolled scum!"
I decided to post "haha just don't post that in the main thread", but to get up to date on the main thread first.

In the complete dark when I touch the metal casing of this lamp I have, if you look directly at it it flashes very dimly for a moment. Must be static electricity, I'm not sure if I should touch it with a battery to see what happens.
Even when turned off, there's a faint buzzing feeling if I run the back of my finger along it so a charge builds up there? It could just be the texture but I don't think it is.
I know enough about electricity to know I'm not at risk anyway, the cord has an adapter with an output of 15V / 300mA. I don't know if this is a fault or just poor design.- shannon

I once stayed in a chalet near Lake Baikal (Russia), and the lights would randomly come on even if the switches were off at the wall. We speculated that there was some non-ghosty explanation for this but I don't know enough about industrial /power gen facilities in the area to say what it was.
Re: Expe's lamp buzzing and tingling, my macbook did that while I was in Thailand but has stopped now that I'm back in Aus. Electrician husband speculates it's something to do with the earthing-or-not of the power points. - shannon
