When I was in the 5th grade I was being severely bullied by a girl in my class (she was a year older). Cyber and physical bullying - the cyber being her making an MSN account to anonymously bully me under the name of a guy I "liked".

I told all my friends and no one believed me. In the end I managed to get her to click a website (I made one on a site that gives IPs of the people who click it) with a story I had wrote. Then I sent another link to the fake account that literally read "I know who you are." and I was able to finally prove that she was the person by showing they were the same.

I didn't know how to do the whole "IP tracing" stuff. All that did was churn out a vague location (I don't know how this works still). Anyways, you can basically call me like Snowden or something.

She's still disgusting now, but I had my little piece of justice. I never actually took it to the school, but I did tell my friends (especially those that were also friends with her). As far as I know, she only ever had it out for me.

I had a run in with a guy who could boot you offline for a while if he managed to log your IP.

Our clan was playing against another clan and a bit of bad luck caused them to think we were cheating and booting them offline, so later this guy comes to our clan and starts PM'ing a link to my members and they all click it and he starts booting everyone offline for the night. We sorted out all the misunderstandings between our clans the next day, and their leader told me the guy's even booted his own clanmates if they pissed him off.

A player for the prequel to that game apparantly had the same ability but never used it. He used his clan's site to log IP addresses, and to get them he made a rule that banned anyone saying "random box" in the chat, so one day you get a ton of players in all the other clans coming in and saying random box just to get banned. Nobody knew they were getting logged until some time later.

Oh man, this reminded me of the pseudo mods that happened to the prequel too.

One day a hacker managed to get admin access and made it so they could ban people from the game. They used it to ban the people cybering the game lobby, but they trusted other people too much and gave others access, who in turn gave others access, which lead to a ton of people with mod powers going around banning anyone they felt like. They could do account bans, IP bans, and even netrange bans. The forum even had a thread about it where people had to go if they wanted to get unbanned. For whatever reason, the actual admin of the game never did anything about it.

They were all really innocuous things like "what do you dislike" and "when I say ditto what colour do you think of" except for that one question which was your surname backwards and struck me as kinda weird even at the time

I liked that we could type in our answers for some of the questions but was wondering how they were evaluating our results. I guess that was just part of the trap.
