I am cautiously optimistic. ultimately, the film will live or die based on how effective it is as a standalone work, and the trailer seems to suggest that the modern day Abstergo parts will mostly just be a framing device, and that those parts of the story won't rely on in depth knowledge of the videogame franchise.-

Well...in one way its good because the games don't focus on that side of story that much really anymore?
Its kind of just throw in now for the die hard fans kind of. Makes up probably less than 10% of the games.
