actually, it's a fumble at the worst
but really, it's control with the football crossing the plane = TD
control is ONE THING - there is not receiver control vs. QB control vs. punter control vs. RB control, etc. (it's simply that a receiver is not deemed to ever FULLY have control unless they maintain the catch while going to the ground, but this only applies if they have not yet gone from the state of being a "defenseless player/receiver in the action of catching the ball" TO (the switch indicator of which is that element that makes it go from one TO the other here) a "player with the ball who is a valid target for regular legal hits, tackling, stripping of the football" (which is a fumble action that CAN occur after a CATCH has been made and the receiver has established control, again going back to the control being ONE THING)
therefore he had control
and if anyone has control when they cross the plane (or touch an orange pillar anywhere!), it's a TD
therefore it was a TD
and I'm not trying to argue anything else about it (as far as "well that's not the rule" or "well that's not how the play was interpreted), I'm more talking about this above ^ is being end-all be-all of it as far as any rule in place should be striving for that and in the spirit of it and that should be the determiner that guides the rule IF for any reason that is not congruent with the current rule or the NFL's general interpretation of whatever rule(s) may be in question in regards to all of that, more talking about the rule using that play as an example to illustrate the nuance points that need to be determined to make the correct callbalance among all things- shaft.ed

So I found out the other day what the chief problem with the Calvin Johnson rule is:
It stems from making a distinction between a catching player who falls to the ground and a catching player who is actively tackled.
If you catch the ball while falling to ground, bobble it the smallest inch mid-catch, then the ball is jarred loose by the ground, it's not a catch.
But if you catch the ball while falling to the ground and the ball is jarred loose by the ground, it's a catch. if you catch the ball, stay on your feet, get tackled, and the ball is jarred loose by the ground, it's a catch. If you catch the ball, stay on your feet, bobble it the smallest inch in the process, get tackled, and then the ball is jarred loose by the ground, it's a catch.
The irony of this is that if Jesse Jameshad notmade the extra effort to break the plane, and instead had just fallen to the ground before the goal line, it would have been a catch. The lurch made him bobble the ball a millimeter in the process. But it's totally contradictory since the play should be dead the moment he breaks the plane. He clearly reestablished possession after the bobble and after breaking the plane. The ruling just arbitrarily valued the completion of the process of the catch rule over the breaking of the plane. So the Raiders make the playoffs with the following:
-Beat the Eagles and Chargers
-Patriots beat the Bills
-Dolphins beat the Chiefs and Bills
-Rams and Jaguars beat the Titans
-Ravens beat the Colts or Bengals (if this is the only one they don't get, it comes down to a coin flip)
That...isn't exactly impossible.KMD is the coolest dude who ever lost a bet to me - vonflare- Kmd4390

How about this possibility? Two 8-8 teams from the same division (Raiders and Chiefs) making the playoffs and the Chiefs actually HOSTING the 10-6 Ravens:

I mean it doesn't make a lick of sense and I'm pretty sure that it was just a piss poor attempt at a joke but you two getting your panties in a bunch is hella lame.Of all tyrannies,a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It was a mild reaction from both of us, and the only way you get better at these things is when your peers point them out.- PJ.

If Rodgers gets released at this stage, he goes on waivers. So in other words, he's a Cleveland Brown. Basically, if he's released, he retires.ShowChloroform girl, how have you been?

If Darnold and Rosen stay in school that'd be wild. I'm all for that too. People will finally talk about Lamar Jackson! People will try to pretend like Josh Allen isn't Blake Bortles 2.0! Baker Mayfield will for sure break into the first round! Into JOHNNY MANZIEL TERRITORY!!! PEOPLE MIGHT EVEN CALL LUKE FALK AN NFL CALIBER QUARTERBACK!!!! I'D LOSE MY GODDAMN MIND!!!!In post 1473, T-Bone wrote:lol Browns.
