Uh.....
the fuck's wrong with drone
All of it.
you haven't heard good drone then :(
I haven't seen the Loch Ness Monster either. Probably for the same reason.
I could link some drone that I've enjoyed loads of the years but I don't want to clog up the thread

Streetlight Manifesto

"Point/Counterpoint"

2003

Image

Discovery:
I don't quite remember. I think I was likely listening to a Spotify radio station or Discovery playlist or something.

I've got a gun to my head but the gun won't cock and my finger's on the trigger but the trigger seems locked, and I can't stop staring at the tick-tock clock, and even if I could, I would never give up. With a vest on my chest, a bullet in my lung, I can't believe I'm dying with my song unsung, and if and when I die, won't you bury me alone? 'Cause I'll never get to heaven if I'm singing this song.

In One Word:
Jaunty.

The Details:
I've lived most of my life a skew line to the genre of ska; Less Than Jake passed by me completely. Thus, more than any other genre, it's definitely one-off songs like this that pique my interest. It's definitely a sound I like; I'm always open to more and more instruments in my music. Like "If We Ever Meet Again", this song had a weak grouping and probably wouldn't crack my Top 100 in the majority of configurations, but it's certainly worthwhile. I think I have a soft spot for rapidly sung stuff like the chorus up there.

What also may have contributed to this song's low placement is that it was recently pulled off Spotify for some reason. It's like a tier-system with me: music not on Spotify > music on Spotify > music so good I buy it so that it can be in my Spotify playlists (spoilers)

Honorable Mentions:
I don't know any other Streetlight Manifesto songs . . . so you just get songs that
could've
made the Top 100, but did not. You know, actual honorable mentions.
Grimes - "Genesis"
Kacey Musgraves - "Follow Your Arrow"
Sara Bareilles - "Cassiopeia"

I can't say there's any other Timbaland song I like a whole bunch, probably when he's featured on Nelly Furtado's "Promiscuous"?
If this trash made it but Promiscuous didn't, I'd describe that as a worrying sign.

It's a good song, but would you put it in your top 100?

Actress

"Voodoo Posse Chronic Illusion"

2013

Image

Discovery:
I don't remember how I found this. I know there was a time in college where I was really into stuff like Actress and Arca and that's when I discovered it, but I can't tell you the specifics.

In One Word:
Oblivion.

The Details:
This song is a song I always want on rankings, but I can never justify it going too high. Even back in 2014 when it was on my Top 100 songs of the year, it only got #97.

Is it the same eight-beep pattern repeated over the course of twelve minutes with stuff in the background? . . . yes, but something about it just draws me in. It's perfect listening for like a moment of calm or thinking. It's so weird and unlike anything else on this list and much of the music I like. Maybe I like it because it tries to make you not like it--repetitive, long, that mouthful of an irrelevant name--but it's still good. Unlike the other two songs that have been ranked so far, I think this song could make the Top 100 over and over again--if only because I'd try to jam it in there.

It's not the longest song on the Top 100 though!

Honorable Mentions:
I've tried delving into more Actress, but the only things I've really stuck to in any sense are the other two songs from the
Silver Cloud
EP:
"Silver Cloud Dream Come True"
"Floating in Ecstasy"
There will be no kisses tonight
There will be no holding hands tonight

I would probably even put other Grimes songs above it.

Actress seems like minimalist music from what the description is
