I am noticing somewhat of a small influx of EM players taking refuge on this site once again, possibly because it's dying. Normally I would check to see what's going on but I made a solid oath to never click on the website ever again, and have found success since then

In the past, EM players were labeled quite harshy and treated as either trolls or unintelligible due to the format they played in. If you are an EM player or someone who has tried Epicmafia, feel free to state your biases/opinions/drama here

Lot of people from MS originally have tried EM and vice-versa, each with varying success. I'm not gonna name names because it's not my business

I wouldn't be surprised if it's still relatively afloat for it's social aspects, but competition died a long time ago IMO

My initial experience with EM'ers was about 9 years ago and they almost ruined a game I was in. They developed a reputation from not just that but a number of other instances, including I believe trying to poach members. I know of users since who have integrated well and enjoy there time here, and are well-liked here. That said, there is always going to be some friction because EM is a rival but also because its such a vastly different way to playing. (less so now) Back in the day, EM was short and snappy and if you didn't know how to play a certain way you were lynched. (which actually sounds a lot like ms now) Where ms was very analytical, long posts, long games. The two playstyles don't really mesh well.

I used to play on EM back in its golden era (08-11)

It went to shit shortly after the introduction of tiered lobbies, newer players never got to play with experienced players and many thus never learned how to actually play well.

As a result, the userbase got shittier and shittier, relying more on random chance and "setup plans", playing like connect-the-dots instead of actually learning how to scumhunt.

Now you can't even get a Classic or Classic Variant game to fill on-site, which is just sad.

I came from ToS because I was tired of all the shit players there. I mean, one could make the argument there are shit players here (like me, so I guess I'm a hypocrite), but certain types of people in ToS make the game unbearable. I still play ToS occasionally though.

I played a few games on EM last time this site crashed and it seems like it's still that way. For example their lylo meta is for the 2 scummiest players to self vote and let the 3rd player control the hammer. I got lynched because I refused to self vote. They're also fans of No Lynching D1 until PRs get results.
